MWEB Gaming Feedback

I'm not sure how relevant this is but just some feedback from my side. I've been using an mweb 4mbps uncapped account with LowerPing and I've been getting between 265-300 ms for the past 6 months with hardly any spiking.

Thanks Mweb! keep up the good work :)

Thanks randomgamer, unfortunately we have been experiencing a problem for customers who don't use a tunneling service that we have been struggling to find a solution to. I'd be interested to hear what the difference is for you if you connect without the lowerping service.

Thanks
Will

Something is quite strange today:
While Playing CoD Black Ops, Johannesburg servers have less than 60ms ping. But All the Cape Town server is unstable, 150ms - 500ms. I'm an Mweb 4Mbps Uncapped subscriber and I'm situated in South Coast KZN.

Thanks!

No change here,

I played last night on mweb account, at 01h30am - 02h00am. And my lag was 5k ms. Although what the game states as latency was again, not what I was experiencing (it was more like 10second lag). Today has been pretty much the same. Do 90% of all ADSL subscribers live in Cape Town? It seems its very very clogged here with internet users.. My guild has many people in JHB and they are running 100% no issues... except for the packet loss a day or so ago. But its a nightmare here in CT. Every day my blood boils a little more with this crap lag.

Hi Ronald

Is this still happening? Can you post some tracerts to the Cape Town servers please?

Hi smokemaryjane.

Two questions:

Are you saying all your guildies in JHB on MWEB are having no problems?
Can you tell me which realm you are on? All my testing for the last while has been on Lightbringer and Twilight Hammer. Lightbringer because I was consistently able to reproduce the latency issues in busy areas there and Twilight Hammer because it has the largest contingent of SA players.

I just logged in on Lightbringer and my ping was holding steady at around 550ms for a good 10 minutes. What am I missing here?

Hi Will, im also on Lightbringer and i am averaging 1.2k ms with the leatrix fix active. I get enormous spikes though

We are on laughing skull eu. Guildies of mine in jhb who are also on mweb seem to be running fine. For them its playable. But it seems on my side, theres something not working so lekker. The action/reaction times are out of sync. And with the lag it feels like my actions happen way after the lag in game states it should be. It gets a lot worse when I interact with the mobs/dungeons etc.

I dont use proxy or mtu setting changes.

More feedback please, I tested earlier and saw a big difference this evening.

Hi Will,

yesterday was very playable, even with my WoW client updating while playing. Today was a different story again. Latency never dropped below 2k with up-to-date client and no other downloads running. Had to use my backup account again.
384k uncapped, no MTU settings or proxy services.

Thanks Jovs. There's been a lot of activity in the last few days, but I'm quite encouraged by the fact that some of the changes we've made are starting to have an impact on the problem. There are a couple of points I need to clarify with the network team tomorrow to understand exactly where we are and what the next steps are.

Can confirm that the WoW issue has not been solved on my end either, albeit somewhat improved but still spike to 6k ms for large periods of time, Pmb

Hey Will, tested tonight. no noticeable change, still unplayable on my line...

same as above just using proxy, becuase i used with all other isp before, so no diffrence for me.

did not test without it again, dinged 85 pretty smoothly :P
