MWEB Gaming Feedback

4-6k ms, may i ask if this is only players from Cape Town that are getting this bad ms on wow servers btw?

BFBC2 seems to be good again, got under a hundred ping average for n hour or so today. Just wondering if any one else has trouble dlling updates for black ops, bought it today and it has been on 97% percent for 2 hours now. ( its says that its dlling at 20-30 kb/s but IT LIES )

update: okay after about another half an hour of fiddling with it i managed to get a new download screen and it says only another hour and a half left for the multiplayer.
( if your thinking NOOB NOOB you don't know how to use steam, then you are right, i cannot bother to use a piece of **** that keeps crashing, losing connection, starting updates while i play etc.)

I'll check my ping tonight, im in CT, and use WTFast and Battleping, will also check without any of the 2 proxy services.....

at work now so not gonna be home till 11PM-ish

When are we going to hear some news? Even if its bad news... I want to know if I must move ISP next month or not...

The Bad results:
Im experiencing random disconnects and at times my guildchat (shattered halls EU) will continue to work but i cannot cast my spells

This is a known bug in WoW atm and has nothing to do with Mweb at least. I got guildies in Siberia and England who have had identical problems like this. My 5c

I told another person here on this forum the other day, ALWAYS try to keep an extra account handy for that "in case of $^&%" moments

I have a backup capped, I want to know if I must cancel my uncapped and move to a more gamer friendly ISP

I've been playing WoW with very few problems since Will mentioned using TCPOptimizer to change the MTU. I tried a number of of values and finally settled on 760 (1000 certainly didn't work). This isn't an ideal solution and has its own issues - like appearing in Dalaran and waiting a while for people to appear and graphics to crystalise - but the game is certainly very playable, with about 400ms latency.

Thanks for the 'bandaid', Will - it's done my blood pressure the world of good :).

Yup, works for WoW, breaks my households PS3/XBL connectivity and online radio stutters like mad, not a valid solution for me

Busy raiding Halion HM25 on MWEB uncapped 384k, seems to be fine for the most part. Very responsive casts, even when adds spawn and we dps like crazy. Using the MTU (960) fix.

WoW

Hey, I'm on the 512 uncapped unshaped and from about 7pm-ish.... latencies sky rocket in WoW. at the moment I have between 4kms and 12kms..... every night is the same problem. This is the issue for both retail and private servers....
It used to be fine before the whole issue with SEACOM's cable breakage.... ever since the repair, this is the case... Both @mweb.co.za and @dslmweb.co.za have the same issue... so guess this is no solution... Seriously guys. please sort it out. I know youre working on it but the release of cataclysm is coming and I fear a couple of people may just change isp's, which would obviously be detrimental to mweb....

Regards

On 4m Uncapped and its still not looking good, latencies from 2kms - 7kms, i realy hope something works soon. Got a patch this week to guys.

Mweb to Mweb hosting

I play dota online and recently with the SAIX tie sever mweb gamers can only connect to neutral and mweb hosts because on telkom hosts we have traffic redirected through london. However, since today I cannot play on mweb hosts anymore but can only connect to neutral hosts (ie not telkom or mweb)

Any idea as to why?

yeah i know i cant connect to telkom and SAIX because of peering, i did actually say that in my post, but i cant connect to other mweb users is the problem... (can connect just HUGE lag)

Like I said the other day I think the pingtest result you were seeing was more of temporary issue with pingtest rather than a poor result :) What about the problems you were experiencing though? Have things improved?

Nope - still the same. Dropped connection a few times as well.
Agggghhhh fkt!

I ran with my proxy off yesterday night (when I saw heretic doing the same) and had about 1.1k -> 2.1k ms, without any mtu changes. But I have to say it was pretty responsive, you would be at the very least able to quest, pvp and raids however. NO
