On 384k unshaped JHB here and after finally patching enough to get in game I've noticed I have similar latency issues. Good times I get 600ms but often spiking to 1400ms and quite of few of those stalls/timeouts people have mentioned today.

Since my package is supposed to be unshaped I'd say this is either a routing issue or a general mweb issue at work today (I haven't tried playing any days other than today).

Now mweb is having massive lines of timeouts every few minutes. WELL ****ING DONE.
Cant we have 1 good week without a problem?

On a related note: Anyone have openweb? How are their uncapped deals for downloading from news servers and playing wow?

nope that would be breach of the FUP seeing that their FUP = sometimes internet, sometimes not

My latency been around 400ms to 700ms on 4mbps uncapped account for the past 3 weeks or so, but have been getting lag spikes every 5-10 minutes, that last for about 10 seconds, It does not disconnect me, but as a healer 10 seconds is enough for a raid wide wipe

Everything else is fine downloading at over 400kb/s from torrents depending on seeders of course

scrap that.. back up to 7000+k ms... cant even log in now... guess its time to face the facts.... damn the peering crap that mweb did so drastically cutting everyone one off before having a new system in place... guess ill have to go buy an axxess 1gb account from pick and pay if i want 2 play this weekend

ps. expect my account canceled after i get my moneys worth out of mweb via p2p

edit: FFS even mybroadband.co.za is timing out

Unlocking router

Soz for posting this here, but does anyone know how to unlock a Billion W40 router without going into a Mweb store as there is not one nearby!

I need this to be done so i can atleast play some WoW through a prepaid account from afrihost in the mean time while mweb is basically uselss for playing WoW.

Good going!

Reporting in, I haven't had any major issues over the past few days, playing in evenings using uncapped 384k and its for the most part 500-700ms and stable. We will see what happens when Cata hits though :P Live in Southern Suburbs, Cape Town.

Logging on this morning, to my lvl1 banking alt in SW. Latency is between 600-800ms but I'm getting disconnected every 2mins and can't even retrieve stuff from my mailbox
384 Uncapped, leatrix fix but no MTU or proxy.

Just logged in with around 2300ms, was pretty funny thou cause it was lagging so hard only my head and shoulders loaded for the first 5minutes... xD

Mweb guy surely if people some people are lagging like mad and others are totally fine on the same account and line type then this is not a shaping problem? If it was related to shaping wouldn't everybody be experiencing the same thing? or is shaping selective? I don't even understand how we are still struggling with this, you know that it works weekdays during the day (when shaping is at its most intense), so you have the fix right there...

yeah only thing different at work is that my shaping lightens at 7pm(torrent at full speed from 7), and not 12pm like home.

4-5 day left, fix it or lose allot of customers. Hopefully mweb has a "reason for leaving us" thing when you cancel. Oh boy got stories to tell.

I know its not a problem that can be solved easily, thats why you had a month and a half. Your network team had a month and a half. Did you ever even do what Tinuva said? I doubt it. I agree with what Vaughan42 said, you actually have the answer and the right protocalls or w/e right there with you. Something changes at 6pm every weekday. Thats your answer. I know im oversimplifying it, but you have a whole god damn network team, which either dont know how to do their job or they arent actually working on it and your just trying to keep the customers on a line as long as possible.

Some questions: Why does the connection go bad AFTER peak times are over (6pm on weekdays)?
Why does the MTU setting make such a huge difference?
Why was some tunneling services Ports shaped 2-3 days after talking about them here. Port 10800 was working wonderfully well on WTFast tunneling service. A day after I talked about it here, it got basically destroyed. Still not working again. It wasnt an issue from the tunneling service because only their few Mweb users were experiencing it. They gave us a test setting/port which im too afraid to name so i never did. (coincidence or not)?

TELKOM HAS LESS PROBLEMS THAN MWEB. Just think about it, TELKOM.

So I guess what im saying is, Will, you should be able to answer these questions (real answers not just were looking into it) by now cause you had enough time, if this was any first world country with allot of good ISP options and competition the whole MWEB would have gone down, the only reason its not is because people in SA are actually so used to bad service that this is nothing new.

Shaping does not happen at an individual customer level so the difference in experience for some might be based on other factors, e.g. DSLAM congestion and in some cases users doing P2P on the same connection while gaming.

Are you suggesting that we do not reduce P2P shaping after hours? I would like to see the results of that customer survey, gaming vs. P2P :) who do you think will win?
