MWEB Gaming Feedback

Basjohn, this isnt inconsistency, this bad lag is very consistent :)

Gaming ISP of note.

Sorry Mweb. I had to switch over to a cheap Afrihost account to be able to play games on the PS3 tonight. This is bad.

Hi Will@MWEB,

I just quickly want to add my own bit of experience to the mix.

A few weeks back i used to have great latency with WoW + Mweb + Proxy, I use to actually get green numbers hovering around 280-290. Recently I have not been able to achieve that with Mweb and normally now hover around 310-350. Nothing major to complain about though, but something that is just a tad bit annoying is that I've noticed a Cindarella pattern coming up with my uncapped 4mbs account... as soon as midnight rolls on the Mweb account goes down the drain.

Even with my proxy in place my latency goes through the roof. I'm then forced to log off, disconnected my internet, reconnect with my backup prepaid account and continue playing at a nice 230-280. I'm not going to complain since having the backup is only necessary after midnight or when some other disaster hits my mweb account, but I would like to add my own experience in there for you.

Could this have something to do with P2P opening up late at night? Might be, I don't know. Other than that my mweb account works and I'm sure one day this problem will be fixed.

Minecraft

Well this is what happens when I attempt to download the Minecraft packages using an Mweb account.

It stays stuck on that screen. If I then quit and restart it same thing happens. If I swop over to an Axxess acount and it downloads and plays perfectly.

My experience with this whole hoohah lately has still been pretty good. Once again, I only play in the evening, from about 19:30 to 00:00 and it is for the most part, fine.

I noticed last night as I was levelling Archeology in some remote part of the world (Hinterlands) that at about 00:10 it started getting weird lag, like 10 second spikes but I was going to sleep anyways.

Cape Town, MTU 960, Leatrix Latency fix in place.

Hi Xennox, I've raised this previously, but we weren't able to identify any caching issue that might be causing this. I'll get someone on trying to replicate the symptoms you're describing and see if we can get this resolved.

Hi Everyone

Just a quick heads up to let you know that we are going live with our SAT-3 connection tonight. If everything goes according to plan Cape Town customers will be routing internationally via SAT-3 from around 2am this morning. I really have no idea what impact this will have on the WoW situation - it's a significant change that has an impact on several areas of the network and also eliminates a number of possible causes for our WoW problem so let's see how things look tomorrow and if we still have a problem I will continue with the investigation.

in case you didn't receive the customer mailer Cape Town users will be diverted to the JHB network between 00h00 and 02h00 while we make the change and P2P will be limited during this time.

Kind Regards
Will

That's correct, change control is set for 00h00 - 02h00 as per my post in the subscriber feedback thread.

PE falls under the CT people right?

This should be an awesome change, good job. (yeh im aware this is one of my first positive posts!)

PERFECTION!!! working 100% my side. No packet loss at all and no weird delays. Nice ping sitting comfortably in the yellow and I'm slap bang in the middle of Orgrimmar.

Getting progressively better :) on 300ms outside Org Auction House... weird laggy delays are totally gone. Its actually better right now than during the day...

Ping just jumped up to 420 to any international site, from 280 previously.

500 and climbing to any international, is this temporary or permanent?

Ye mine is starting to die again :( arrrgggg i thought we had it. i think people's torrent's died while they did the switch over and now they are starting again and its f$#cked... so close, but so far xD

back to the normal 280ms which i guess is good.

The thing thats not good is the timeouts. Unstable as always.

Testing in the middle of an upgrade which is running slightly over time is probably going to give you some whacky results gentlemen, also remember that route discovery can take some time to settle down - next time, get some sleep :)

Sillicur if you're getting dced at the moment I think it's time we started looking at that as an individual fault on your side, I've mentioned to you before that I don't think your poor experience is just about the network issue on our side.
