Is this thread only related to online gaming via the PC with an MWeb account, or for console MWeb account holders too? I have an issue I am hoping someone might have an answer to regarding lag on XBox Live.

Darksun please do some general tests for me please, speedtest, pingtest etc and see what the results are, we're not aware of any issues at the moment.

I'll put my voice saying that MWEB really is doing a good job, I get great speeds(bar my router) and I get a helluva lot of downloading done while gaming(no joke) so post your specs and let's see what is wrong

Thanks Mike, I'm glad you found the problem, please let us know what the final outcome is.

If I may, I;m a wii owner as well. 32007 error is normally a issue specific to the protocol with the wifi connection ie: bad protocol/mismatch. If you are using WES2/WPA2 you might have to drop it to version 1 as if I recall the older firmware versions did not support the newer encryption standards. Otherwise, double check your firewall on your router, your encryption key, mac locking etc.

Thanks Kosmik, filing that one under useful to know :)

@Will.
will do the tests again as soon as i am home.
will pm them to you.

busy playing the disconnect game on wow.

Got your PM, response sent.

not too sure if this is right place....but seeing as the thread is 119 pages long please forgive me if answer is already here....

i cant update my wii and have read that it is due to mweb blocking it? what can i do to update my wii?? it keeps on reading error code 32007...

I recall having this problem a couple of months back. Switched from my MWeb uncapped account to a WebAfrica capped account and the update worked.

If you don't have a second account to use hopefully you may be purchasing a new Wii release soon which would have any updates on the cd. Bought Wii Party recently which updated a number of things (new channels etc) the first time the disc was inserted.

The only thing I could think of from our side that might affect this is protected access. Go to the MWEB home page, choose the myaccount option and after you've signed in look for protected access under the ADSL settings and disable it.

Just to say... my gamers have been getting great WoW latencies recently. Solid green.

Hi Adrian

You can certainly ask your question here, if you're talking about player hosted games the most common reaon for latency there is either the variable nature of connecting with international games, or the fact that SAIX have not entered into a peering arrangement with us so traffic between our networks routes internationally. This means that games between MWEB and Telkom customers do suffer from high latency.

Kind Regards
Will

Thank you for the long and informative post. This is exactly what I needed to see, everything explained in detail. (i dont really know much about these things)

<snip>

Conclusion:

It has been a good day latency wise, I will continue to monitor everything. As to what else you can do Will, I honestly have no clue. Yes you did a great job and the bulk of your customers now seem to be happy. The only thing i can think of to ask you to do check my account again just to make 100% sure if its on the correct speed (384) and everything is fine admin wise. Only after the holidays not even Mweb techs should work over xmas !

Well, guess thats it, thanks for your informative post, thats what i have been looking for.

Thanks Sillicur I'm glad that we understand each other a bit better now :) I have checked your account and line status as recently as last week and everything looks fine.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any further concerns.

Jusy fyi, one of my team has been dealing with burn regarding speed issues and it seems as if he may have a more general fault affecting his experience, eagerly awaiting his feedback once this is resolved :)

Kind Regards
Will

@hereticangel

Just chatted to one of the resident WoW experts and he says that Tol Barad is quite a problematic area for disconnects. Apparently it was initially a 200 v 200 pvp zone, which has now been reduced to 80 v 80. He will do a comparative check for me with his MWEB account and let me know his findings, however he did mention that his girlfriend, who plays on 3G, often dcs in that area as well.
