Tol Barad Lag

I cannot even stay connected in Tol Barad....

no ping/trace issues... just super lag... reminds me of the Good old days in Wintergrasp

Even with no addons....

thats normal, tol barad is messed up, try a free account, but think it will dc also, i have not tired yet when i have 4mb now, but that place needs insane amount of bandwidth at times.

I don't think 384kbs is enough bandwidth for Cata unfortunately. We've had endless problems with guildies on 384k in the Al'Akir fight phase 3 getting disconnected because they just don't have enough bandwidth. This is just in 10 man mode, it will get a lot worse in 25 man.

Very interesting to hear that comment from someone playing at raid level Blackhand.

I can add that in terms of the testing that we've done and the customer feedback I've had over the last while my feeling is that 384k customers definitely seem to be more prone to having issues when it comes to latency and DC's. 384k is certainly enough to run around questing and levelling, but when the data transfers from addons start mounting in a raid situation with Omen, Recount and DBM (I'm assuming these, or their equivalents are still used in serious raid groups?) and you have Vent, or Teamspeak running in the background it might start to reach breaking point on a 384k line.

I'd be interested to see some more opinions on this and what the general recommendation is from those raiding regularly.

Just looking for a quick update from some customers who previously reported issues and have now gone very quiet - I'm hoping because your problems went away :)

Problem didn't go away, I did xD

Just got back from holiday and all is not well in the world of warcraft! Before the holiday, I was involved in 25 man raiding (ventrilo, dbm, omen but no recount). It was fine for the most part (500-700ms, responsive) but I have just logged in and BAM 22k ms, which has now dropped down to 3500ms in a less populated spot.

Attempting to go to the AH is a tedious experience, latency shoots up and then I get disconnected so it definitely isn't handling a lot of data. My throughput at the moment is 4.04kb/s down, 351b/s up in the middle of SW, so I suspect something is happening.

Switching to Axxess account as I don't have time to mess around before the raid tonight!

Same issues as Steven - but no backup account, so no WoW tonight. :( Info on this completely arbitrary performance from MWeb would be nice.

Similar issue last night. I also have an MWeb 1GB Unshaped account which I used. I had some lag still (600-1200), but still not in the 24k range.

The only real difference I should have experienced, is the unshaped uses my full line speed (2Mb/0.5Mb) versus the 384. And out of interest, my son wasn't playing Black Ops at the time...

Hi Steven

That really doesn't make any sense to me as I remember for the Clareinch nightmare of last year that we're practically neighbors and my experience is the complete opposite of this - I've been leveling on Twilight Hammer and seldom see latency go over 400ms, with many addons running. Can I give you a call sometime today and we can chat about this in more detail? Just PM me a preferred contact number.

Blustorm I'd like to change you to a 4mb profile for the wknd to test out - please PM me your account details. Also I think we should look into your line conditions in terms of why it's only syncing at 2MB.

I have tried logging in to Steamwheedle Cartel (EU) a number of times this afternoon and I eventually get past the login screen and am able to type into guild chat, but I can't interact with quest givers and DC after a minute or so. The latency meter shows green and 0ms the entire stay.

We're back to our experience of November and early December last year.

Edit: Tried creating a toon on Twilight Hammer (EU) and going to Org - no problems. Went on to Ironforge (EU) on a low level alt - no problem. Logged in to Steamwheedle Cartel again and there was no problem this time (only a bit of latency at start) ... so not quite sure what the problem was earlier.

My experience so far this afternoon has been relatively fine, 500-900ms in random HMs and a bit laggy in a Tol Barad battle (slow casts on instants). No D/Cs.

Hi Will, been very good for a long time but from about 4 today its been up and down 3kms, is there work been done somewere?

... and back to 3500ms in Org - nice.

Edit: Up to 5500ms with lag spikes - no WoW tonight. Hopefully this is rectified by tomorrow, as I'm starting to envy mates who use Telkom.

Hey Will, just got off the phone with a guy from Telkom named Nicolas. He says that they have monitored the line and that all is within spec. He mentions that I'm currently on the latest generation of DSLAM in my area (Sunward Park) with the best backhaul capacity and that due to this he wont move me. He also went on to explain how due to network restrictions there will be a time when I will have practically no service. Guess all was invain then unless they did some sort of line work or upgrades to me specifically. I told him It seemed more like an isolated issue but he said he feels like moving DSLAM may be worse in the long run. Thought I'd just share the news from Telkom themselves.

Cheers

@Will

My eve clients are refusing to connect as of 13:30pm. ANy ideas? It seems like they can't resolve the servers but if I log on to steam I can see some guys who have steam versions of the game are in.

Rebooted Machine, router, closed any p2p apps etc. Everything else is fine except those.

Ahhh nvm seems ccp is full of crap again.

Nope I've been playing all evening myself with low latency. Please can you check your cmdline pings and tracerts so we can see if there are any underlying issues.

This is what I'm seeing currently, we have no planned maintenance this weekend and not reported faults:
