MWEB Gaming Feedback

Hi Will@Mweb, just some feedback on my raiding experiance so far on 384k. Firstly, my US noise margin issue is fixed now. It is currently at 12db and its not dropping down to 3 anymore. Secondly, my ping is actually higher when I use BattlePing, about 250ms home and world, compared to 190ms home and world without a proxy (more or less). Also note that those pings are in 5man dungeons and while questing, not raiding. Talking about proxies, is the WTFast keys you are handing out the basic ones or the advanced ones, and my I have one also? :D

On the raiding front it seems that only boss fights are causing me to DC, on trash my latency seems fine. Also, I have tested raiding without any addons installed just to confirm if it is any of my addons that are causing my DC, but I still get DC'ed alot. I have tried everything. The only last option that is left would be to upgrade my line to 4meg, but my budget would not allow it :( Note that all raiding tests was done in a 25man enviroment, not 10man. Will do 10man raids on my 384k line in the next few weeks for testing purposes.

You should find it to be very smooth though even without the WTFast - I started up WoW again late last year myself mainly to test the experience on our network (and we all know how that story ends :D)

I have characters ranging between mid 50's and 70's now and I am doing most of my leveling in Random Dungeons. I never get DC'ed from dungeons, or feel like I am lagging behind a fight and casting is always very responsive. It's a far cry from my raiding experiences back in Burning Crusade days trying to tank ZA and areas like that on a 600+ ping :)

I'm quite sure It will be a whole lot smoother than my current means. The 3G connection was very erratic and never dipped lower than 400ms. It mostly hovered in the 700 - 900ms range. Good thing I'm leveling in Arms and not Prot spec. ;)

Hi Will@Mweb

Just wanted to say was in WoW last night did a bunch of dungeons and the lag was great 174ms-210ms with no huge spikes.
Can't wait to try it out on the WTFast account.
Thanks for all the help and hard work, keep it up.

Lovely thanks for the feedback - I've sent you a PM regarding WTFast :)

EDIT: I see that you had a problem after this again, did it settle down?

PMing you the WTFast key now :)

@MWEB can you please let me know why since last week my ping is so high on COD BO - gameplay was fine but ping started to get very high from last week Thursday - Thanks

Hi intensive.

That really should not be the case. Please could you PM MWEB Guy with your username and contact details and ask him to assist you with troubleshooting the connection.

Enjoy :)

EDIT: If it doesn't work immediately give it an hour or so. Our Gamesmaster still needs to activate the key for me.

Just got back from a couple of very busy weeks and have seen the WTFast accounts mentioned by Will. I've read back a few pages and don't see any particular process for signing up for the accounts or putting my name forward - is there one?

Raiding is impossible atm and even playing at the same time as my wife can cause havoc with the WoW experience. In light of this we are looking at upgrading to 4Mbs (cost may be an issue though) or shifting to Telkom 4Mbs (a number of guildies using that option successfully), but I'd prefer to stay with MWeb if truth be told.

WTFast could be that option we are looking for.

WTFast accounts - Yeah what are they and do they only work for WoW.
I am an avid online gamer, so just wondering what they actually do.
If it is only for WoW then give it to them  But if it is a general fix for MWEB considering most gaming traffic p2p then I want want pretty please:)

Sorry with over 153 pages there is only so far bck I am prepared to go to find the orginal link :o

@ SHVAK Have a look on WTFast.com, the service works for most popular MMO's (TCP based games), not just WoW. Also please stop spreading that nasty rumour about gaming traffic and p2p :D Recognized gaming traffic is given the highest level of QoS possible on our network and we have gotten very good at recognizing it :p We are not seeing WTFast as a solution, but rather as giving something a little extra to those really hardcore gamers who need every last millisecond out of the connection.

@WGS2010 / @Magnarmalok there is no sign up page or fixed process for this yet. It's really very difficult for us to gauge exactly what level of demand to expect so for now we are really doing this in a very informal fashion. For those in need you can either PM myself, or mail [email protected] and you will be sorted out :)

Guys,

I'm getting 168ms (I kid you not) - 190ms on my mweb shaped/uncapped - 4mb account, when playing WoW. In local games, I get pretty decent 70ms pings. (I've noticed most players are around the 100ms and higher mark.)

Raiding/Dungeoning and in game playing.. I do not use any proxy. (wtfast/lowerping/battleping)

All I can say is that from my experience, no proxy can help with a 384 line. Unfortunately it just seems to be incapable of sending/receiving the amount of information thats going around between the client and the server..

I too, download torrents/ large files/ game updates. Which I have to stop running, when playing. If I keep my torrents running, my game barely loads. And my latency jumps to 5k ms and higher. But for me I have no issues postponing a download, so I can enjoy some online entertainment.

@Will have you received any feedback from the users that have been using WTFast and have noticed any remarkable improvement?

I have been in communication with Will in PMs. I think a combination of bad timing is hitting me, because whenever I get to raid it appears that MWEB is having issues that causes me to D/C. Unfortunately I can't test the product like that >.<

To eliminate whether it is my actual line, I have an AxxessLite account which runs fine, proxy or no.

With 4meg MWeb and WTFast I get 160-170ms World and 200-220ms Local. So yeah a good improvement to the normal 300-500ms mark.

Thanks Mweb and Thanks Will for all the hard work.

Yip, same issue here I have no idea. same thing for me last night between 7-11pm last night I tried to log the fault but MWeb told me the line is fine it must be congestion from Telkom's side, however my FNB Connect account was perfect not one issue. Prolly the Seacom line wigging out again :S *sigh*

Nope I don't use any of those poxies, I have a 4Mb line I don't seem to need it my latency is usually fine. It's still fine as long as I use my FNB Connect account rather than my MWeb one since the issue between 7-11 last night and today.
