What info do you need to expedite this process as there are alot of frustrated MWEB gamers at the moment. Would a record of when the connection issues start/stop help, plus which servers/realms IP Addresses?

It seems to me you guys are working in a vacuum... unless of course you guys are trying to play on WoW yourselves in which case I'm sure you will experience the same issues. Send me a pm if you need all my MWEB/WoW account details if it helps identify, replicate the problems.

Please give us an indication of the problem and its expected resolution time. This will be the third time I've asked for this feedback with no helpful response. Mweb has now had four days to estimate what the error is, so even your rough thoughts would be useful.

Can anyone recommend an ISP which is decent for gaming? If this isn't sorted by Friday (end of last exam and serious WOW time) I'll be cancelling my account.
 
Gibson if your not happy on a shaped uncapped account then just get a second unshaped prepaid cap account, get the Axxess 1GB prepaid account for R70. I mean seriously your acting like its the end of the world if your not on WoW, plus having a second capped account is good for scenarios like these. Obviously Mweb guy wont recommend this. But this is my best suggestion, 19 out of my 100 friends on Xbox live have more then 2 ISP for this exact reason myself included.

That seems like a solution, but I've had numerous issues with general connectivity with Mweb. Looking at the Openweb thread it seems like they at least have some form of customer service and decent speeds.

The problem is that I shouldn't have to switch between two separate paid services for dependant on what I'm doing, and an ISP network should be designed to cater not only for the casual browser, but also to the heavy down-loader and gamer. Looking at the other Mweb thread shows that even an upgrade to their unshaped service yields poor results, in which case a total shift in ISP seems a better solution.

Paying Mweb R1000 a month for ineffective service is not on, if I wanted to use an account purely for browsing then why would I have an uncapped account?

Secondly, I resent the fact that I'm losing money not only through my paying mweb to provide little to no service, but at the same time am losing gametime that has been purchased due to a lack of connectivity. As previously stated, if we were informed of some action by mweb, apart from the standard response they continually give, I would be happier knowing that the problem is on their radar and a solution forthcoming, instead of the stopgap messages they think of as communication.

If this type of service was presented in the UK in any other nation, mweb would have no customers and would probably have been sued for breach of contract, and while I respect that internet in South Africa is evolving, a lack of customer service or network maintenance cannot be excused.

I don't think getting a 2nd account from a different ISP is really a solution to our problem with WoW and some other online games. The only solution can come from Mweb, when they sort out whatever shaping rules are causing these issues.
Asking us to pay R70 or whatever on top of what we are already paying Mweb is unreasonable.

I cant believe that you guys are saying that its settings on people's routers and PCs now. Is there no end to your incompetence?
I have my settings on automatically detect and ive been having the same problem as all the guys on WoW.
This isnt the users fault it is Mweb.
 
Always awesome how they select which post to answer, totally ignoring the previous few pages.
 
Got a call from mweb in regards to a post here to sort my line. sent them some tests and seemed to fix my line in about a day or 2. then i tell the tech "everything seems to be fine now" and 3 hours later , my latency goes from sub 300 to 5000+ ?

I bet there was nothing wrong with your line. Its your account thats the problem.
Mweb need to seriously sort their service out.
 
of course its my account :D my web africa account is perfect. sub 250 latency all the time. no problems what so ever. and i only got the WA account cuz mweb cant offer me perfect preformance 100% of the time , at the moment they cant even do it 50% of the time and thats even pushing it.

if only we paid for our services for the times they were of a decent preformance. Telkom + Mweb wud go into liquidation.
 
The weird thing for me is, that when this all started I decided to update my Rift client again, got max 4mb speed on the download. Then when WoW went down again (The loading screen problem) I decided to see if Rift had the same issue. I could log in without any problem, and I was getting 200ms. While WoW was still having issues. Really weird, if it were some problem with the protocol's the MMO's use, Rift would also have been broken.

That's why I'm just actually looking for some solid feedback as to what the issue actually is.

Hi Gents apologies it has been a busy day - I did initiate an investigation into the weekend's complaints this morning and am awaiting feedback from our engineers - is the problem ongoing and if so can I get an indication of time of day and Geographic spread of affected users please?

It seems Crom smiled upon my Age of Conan today as I was able to connect, the he proceeded to kick it repeatedly in the nads until it fell over and died. I'm still unable to do any group/raid instances and even solo play is quite bad with a 1k-2k ping with disconnects happening left right and center.

*edit* This is with WTfast...Couldn't connect without it.
