MWEB Gaming Feedback

Paying Mweb R1000 a month for ineffective service is not on

YIKES! Didnt think you paid that much a month, then im with you. Totally unacceptable! Lets hope they sort their stuff out soon, I had a AWESOME connection last night according to speed test but my downloads didnt want to go past the 10KB/s threshold which kinda irritated me a bit.

It seems Crom smiled upon my Age of Conan today as I was able to connect, the he proceeded to kick it repeatedly in the nads until it fell over and died. I'm still unable to do any group/raid instances and even solo play is quite bad with a 1k-2k ping with disconnects happening left right and center.

*edit* This is with WTfast...Couldn't connect without it.

So where are you Snorky and at what time did you experience this?

is the problem ongoing and if so can I get an indication of time of day and Geographic spread of affected users please?

Yes, its happening for me from around 12 midday , to around 2am ( at what time it seems to drop to sub 300. but thats in a capital city. without vent. and no spells and combat log data happening really. ( From 3am - 12 midday i have no idea ) and im living on la lucia ridge in durban ( rite by gateway )

during the time i played with a bad connection( 12 midday - 2am ), my latency was sitting around 1k-2k, and i only REALLY play properly from 7pm-12pm.

of course its my account :D my web africa account is perfect. sub 250 latency all the time. no problems what so ever. and i only got the WA account cuz mweb cant offer me perfect preformance 100% of the time , at the moment they cant even do it 50% of the time and thats even pushing it.

if only we paid for our services for the times they were of a decent preformance. Telkom + Mweb wud go into liquidation.

It's funny how one always blames the other though.

Had some issues over weekend, Last night about 6PM got latency spikes up to 4k every few seconds. Connection went down round 10-11PM when It came back up after a min or so everything was fine again. Today When I logged on round 12PM lag spikes was back and is still happening.

Joburg South, and it happens throughout the day until about 1am then it works fine

We have the exact same problem with AOC. I have just about given up playing AOC on mweb. I use my backup capped account for that :(

A friend of mine has the same problem also. And using alternate isps is the only solution we got also...

The damn Wow loading screen issue is back again. I am tired of this now. How is Openweb Gold uncapped for gaming? (WoW specifically)

Soulcode mind posting some current cmd line traces and pings? Logging in fine here with a decent ping (this is my version of a day off :D)

@ The AOC guys: Rohan we thought we had the signatures for this pinned down and the network guys have rechecked everything, but it seems to be particularly resistant to being optimized. The gaming team is going to take another look now with a trial installation on one of our test benches and get the engineers to do a low level analysis of the traffic to see if we can pick up anything else. Please hang in there I'm sure we'll crack this soon.

Also as a note. The logging in loading screen seems fine this time, it's when you join an instance or BG when you get stuck again most of the time.

Latency is perfectly fine. (As fine as you can expect from 384k)
Another thing, on the times the loading screen does indeed complete it seems like your connection to the instance server is severely throttled. (I am talking less than 5kB/s)
The connection to the chat server is fine though. :wtf:

You can replicate all this by just zoning into and out of RFC a few times. (it will happen more often than not) Or The Stockade if you're Alliance, or whatever instance portal is near :P

And now it's suddenly working the majority of the time. You probably think I am imagining things >.<

mmm...Age of Conan seems to be working nicely...will see if it holds up in a raid later

No not at all, it's fairly puzzling though. If it was a network problem on our side I would have expected the symptoms to include high latency. I haven't been able to find time for a good WoW session myself in the last few weeks, but I have logged in periodically just to check on latency and so forth and everything seemed fine. I'll try and get some game time in myself over the next few days and see if I pick anything up. I'm not in the office on Friday so I'll make some time to check out the daytime experience as well.
