Hi All

We have noticed that there are a few customers where somehow the lines seem to have locked up and a port recreate should fix this.
If your line is with MWEB please contact us on 0860112252 and ask the support agent to recreate the port for you.
If your line is with Telkom you can give Telkom a call on 0800 375 375 and they can do it for you.

Can anyone else on MWEB business confirm? I'll gladly move up if it provides a more stable uncapped.
I have both Mweb business uncapped (at work) and consumer uncapped (at home). The business uncapped account's international always worked, where as I had to change the realm of my uncapped at home for the international access to be restored.

Unfortunately someone screwd up with the local routing at Mweb for a few days and then like myBroadband (which is local of course) was routed via India, via UK back to SA! This routing screwup affected both business and consumer uncapped accounts, however using the other Mweb realm (which gave you a Telkom DSL IP) was unaffected by that. See http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...-UK-on-Mweb-(consumer-amp-business)-uncapped-!
This issue has been resolved.

Overall, I'm quite impressed with the Mweb business & consumer uncapped products. The business uncapped is the way to go if you need something that you have to rely on (like for hosting services). The downside of using the business uncapped product is that the provide you with a CISCO router that you don't have any access to.

Hey MWEB ops... which two routes are you using now if I may ask?

You might never get a 'straight' answer to this kind of question. There are the physical cables, and the international peering arrangements for onward transit.

My tracert (consumer account) shows that traffic to the US West Coast is going via India (bharti.com and airtel.in), and to traffic to Europe and US East Coast is going via SAT-3 on spare capacity from cprm.net (Portugal).

The actual cable to the east is likely to be SEACOM to Mombasa. After that there are a number of posibilities, such as the TEAMS cable to UAE and maybe SEA-ME-WE-4 to India:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TEAMS_(cable_system)

The reason this route probably took a while to connect, is that these cables were not configured for to end-to-end operation.

I love it how when cable failures happen people go absolutely mal and blame Mweb first (and their respective ISP's later). Haters gonna hate.

Since Mweb uncapped started, I have had almost nothing but praise for them. I can do online gaming most of the time and I understand that it is a shaped service so I can expect a bit of "meh" here and there some evenings.

Their quick and speedy response to the issue has impressed me once again.

Thanks Mweb!

Hi Stevenc

Thank you for your support.

I think I'll help out by staying on "Telkom Uncapped" until the Seacom cable is repaired, or until Telkom fix their bug, whichever comes first.

GREAT NEWS, wtf their service which we pay for is working o.O isnt that what its supposed to do. I hope mweb are refunding you guys for the service break.

Doubt they will as it's in their T&C's. None-the-less I can gladly do with a few days of hiccups with the kind of service I have received from when i opened up the account.

Took like a week from getting the line to having it up and running. MWEB Operations went out his way to get me sorted on my username which wasn't sent to me. All in all very happy chappy

Idiot, what a stupid comment. All in all I think MWEB offers good service and is doing a great job.
