MWEB: International Bandwidth Update

Am on OW Gold using mweb backbone and this happens to me as well. Will try the login without dsl in front.

Between 11PM and the early hours of the morning we will be busy with the cut-back to SEACOM, during this time non-priority traffic e.g. P2P, etc. will not be available.

Mweb seems to have turned on full shaping.... properly to protect their network while they migrate back to Seacom...

They may be busy with reconfiguring something. I found that restarting my router restored connectivity.

Seacom, oh Seacom, here we go again.

Did not had any problems for weeks, all of a sudden, I get time-outs while browsing. I wonder why?

We completed our cutover to the Seacom cable in the early hours of this morning and everything looks to be working fine. We'll continue to monitor closely but so far it's looking good.

I can confirm that my tracert's all go via SEACOM this morning (Sat 24th).

Can you please make sure the Network Status page gets updated timeously. It's unhelpful when its out of date:

Edit: I got an e-mail (11am) from MWeb saying the changover had gone smoothly. Still waiting for Network Status update...

Yup i can tell seacom is back, ping is 150+ local again.

Was rocking 13ms when seacom was down.

Could you be more specific? All my pings are 'normal' (CT-Jhb-CT on www.iol.co.za).

MWeb routing definitely has more hops than SAIX for users outside of Joburg, so results may vary...
