MWeb Mail Sending Issues

I don't seriously think you are in a position to tell people what to say or do. You sound like a sock-puppet for Mweb to me. Anyone else see this in his posts?

Explain the issues you are experiencing with MWeb email rather than talking about sock-puppets and scrounging for support.

As I've mentioned before, I have no problem with fair criticism of products or services. FUD trolling I do have a problem with.

I've had similar problems while using Outlook Express. I've never had a problem receiving but evey couple of days I have a problem sending - it comes and goes without any changes to my email client settings which would indicate that the roblem is with the smtp server.

Fair enough. Intermittently I experience very slow response from the SMTP server when sending. Not experienced any problems with incoming mail.

Numerous clients experience this issue. When I say slow - I mean SUUUUUPERslow, almost to the point of being unusable (but not quite).

After at least 3 rounds of calls and calls back and returned calls with the call centre, and a few months down the line, we've all given up. Just come to accept it as sub-par service from MWeb. It sucks that as much effort as these guys at MWeb Ops put in on the forum, there are still so many issues with the service that make it tough to praise the company's efforts.

Have you mentioned this specific issue (slow SMTP) to the MWeb reps on these forums directly?

Nope, I figured my 3 calls to the centre, my clients 2 calls to the call centre, the various waiting periods between those calls and the callbacks from advanced technicians and the few months since should have been enough... I guess not though :(

MWeb Operations, could you advise on the matter? I can give you the clients email address and hopefully you'll be able to find a history of the problem on their account.
Can confirm that it isn't only this client who experiences the problem, another one did too. This has only been happening since switching to MWeb uncapped.
Tried all MWeb SMTP servers, including ipass, to fix the issue - nothing works besides good ol' waiting.

Most of the time there's no issue - but when it starts, it can happen for a few days - making it almost impossible to sent emails.
It's going to be quite tough to fix this problem while we can't replicate it, though...

@Dean: The MWeb reps are not able to have a presence in every thread on these forums. If s/he fails to reply here, send a PM.

I think you missed the point. The same person you speak to at support is here on the forum. He's tried the 'advanced technicians' already.

I think you missed the point. Read a few more threads around here to figure out how things work.

For sure, figured they've already been in this thread, so it's been/being monitored already... either way, if they don't reply it's cool - as I mentioned, I and their clients have gotten used to the issues, and have tried numerous avenues to rectify. I don't see much getting done either way, so they'll just have to live with it, or change ISPs.
Inevitably it'll probably land up being the latter at some point, if they can shake the old iafrica addresses.

Hi rakeshza,

How long have you received this error message? You are only receiving this error message when sending mail? What port are you using when sending mail?

Regards,
MWEB Guy

I have also been having issues sending email on Mweb personally, as well as at a client.
The problem isn't with the Mweb mail server it is with domains hosted elsewhere using their outgoing servers.
When sending I get a username/password prompt and it won't go any further.
I have tested on another ISP and it works 100%.
I hope someone from Mweb can help with a solution.

Evening pcbilski

Are you using port 587 and have you unticked "always authenticate" on the outgoing mail server?

Hi.
I have tried port 587 but it doesn't seem to work.
Authentication needs to be on for this domains outgoing server.
