Uncapped can't be abused. But MWEB abuse the law... Then its capped, and then somebody need to complain ASASA.

FFS! This is not the only offering from MWEB! If you want true uncapped with no shaping and no restrictions and no fair use policies and VPN until your heart is content then get their BUSINESS service.
I'm "endlessly shocked" at the sense of entitlement most South Africans seem to feel!
I like to think that I have been a supporter of Mweb. But the question has to be asked of how their AUP compares to what is considered a "standard" AUP internationally. My point is that i am guessing that internationally the fact you may download GBs over a secure protocol DOES NOT count as a violation of uncapped internet. I suppose, of course, that internationally there are probably no shaped uncapped accounts. Which begs the question whether a shaped account should be considered as being uncapped.
The MWeb rep has clearly explained (in this thread or elsewhere) the four factors which constitute abuse. I suggest you (re)read them.
Again, let me repeat.
It is possible to do as much as 1TB /mo on MWEB not cheating (not using VPN) etc.
This would be called 'abuse'.
False advertising of note.
Shaping is not the restriction I am arguing against however, as shaping distributes available bandwidth evenly, however placing a ceiling on the actual raw AMOUNT that users can download is immediately making the service capped.
How can so many people argue against something that is in black and white? If you're happy being lied to then fine, but don't try and claim your capped offerings are really uncapped when the truth is staring you in the face.

Not by their current statements, it won't.
Try to understand, if you've managed to download 1TB and you have not bypassed their shaping rules, then you have actually been allowed to download that 1TB because the network usage made that bandwidth available at that time and you utilised it.
Now i feel, even with uncapped, that im constantly on thin ice.
No.
If you wish to use it for a BUSINESS then you'll purchase the BUSINESS account.
Logic yes?
There should not be a "Non-true" uncapped account for sale. This account makes a mockery of the very word uncapped.
You CANNOT prove me wrong here because I'm simply stating the facts as the english language says them. Uncapped is uncapped. Putting ANY restrictions of the amount of data is putting a CAP on it (or limit - see synonyms!).
False advertising of note.

The explanation was hardly clear. BTW please butt out, I do not wish you to reply to my posts.
That is how I understood the case to be earlier. However, now it seems that MWEB is going back. Remember bypassing shaping is not the only thing they consider abusive.
Today it is 600GB, next week it will be 300GB, next week it will be 100GB.
i would love to see the punters try an asasa case... if they have the balls to come out from hiding behind their screens where it is safe. however let me pre-warn, uncapped is only deemed not uncapped when they actually cut you off. then it is not uncapped (which in this case is not the case since the user abused the service and was asked to move up one package). if they limit in anyway except that, it is uncapped according to the ISPA and ASASA going by the previous tried case.
...peterch, medical porn very confidential ?. quite sure using a vpn "normally" and not with the idea to bypass shaping mechanisms is legit. i've used quite a lot of vpn for work and optimizing my mmo traffic without getting a letter.
No, the amount of data is not the issue.

I can only shake my head at a post like this!
You attempt to give me an English lesson on the word uncapped but you seem oblivious to it's meaning yourself...... I'll repeat again, as it seems to be a necessity in this thread, that no one is getting capped (if I missed this somewhere in here feel free to point it out to me)!!!! People are being told to change their usage habits or they risk termination but from what I am reading no cap is being imposed! Now... slowly shall we...... NO CAP is another way of saying? Think now...... yip, UNCAPPED!!
With all this reading about letters/threats of cancellation and AUP's, my question would be, do they warn you if you are on the verge of abuse? I mean without a clear understanding of the amount of data we are allowed. how on earth are we going to know what is abuse and what is not?
Now i feel, even with uncapped, that im constantly on thin ice.
