MWEB - SEACOM OUTAGE UPDATE

Wonder what the reaction will be to a cell phone network provider going down for 5 days by their 'consumer rate' paying customers? Laat jou dink ne?

Why do you think Cellphone providers are so expensive?
You're probably covered by about 8 cells right now, you wouldn't even notice if 4 of them went down.
They build in redundancy, and you pay for it. Simple.

The interim international links we have been using since early this morning have gone down. Customers on our IPC solution will have local access only.

I'm back up again.
We all tend to over react - remeber they said it would take a few days to sort out, at least they getting us online more often than off.

Can't help laughing at people wanting what they pay for because they're paying "consumer" prices...

You are getting what you pay for.

Put it this way, what is the current uptime percentage of SEACOM in its year of operation?

Apparently MyBB users decide what our monies worth  And what we should be getting.

Don't be so obtuse. There are economic realities at play and pretending otherwise is just childish. Please show me anywhere in the world that supplies connectivity at consumer prices with five nines guaranteed uptime.

Do we also get to compare prices to "where in the world" ? I mean if we do, I'd probably have three backup accounts for the same price... problem solved... five nines up time almost guaranteed.

€51 a month for 3mbit/s ADSL in Ireland. And thats with a 30GB cap. And then its €2 per GB over your CAP. And they'll cut your connection after 3 warnings if you're caught torrenting.
And its probably less reliable than Telkom.

What are you complaining about?

You know that's not a valid argument. Economic realities needs to be taken into account. You cannot blame MWEB for the failure of a government regulator.

I would also like to see this question answered - where can you get 99.999% uptime with a written SLA for mass-market home consumer pricing?

Where did I blame Mweb?

Where did I say 99.999% up time?

If this is going to be over a week as stated, that's going to be 60% uptime.

There's a name for this kind of argument/logic.

Yes and if you go with BT Broadband like my mother has she has unlimited downloads, with 20mbp speeds, and satellite. Seriously. Compare apples with apples.
