seacom seems back

Seacom seems back - at least for IPINX/Sainet...

Still some link flapping but certainly been stable for around a hour now.:):)

Well I see this morning speeds on MWEB are still slow. Suppose it will take another couple of hours!

Maybe it's just your area or something, I'm maxing my line atm. Synced in at 2mb

Wait what? Then why are my download upload speeds faster than my download. Even speedtest confirms it!

FFS now what

PS Synced at 3.2mb

Same....both my Axxess accounts were performing normally again at 05:30 this morning

This tells me that if the cable repairs have been completed, not everyone / all ISPs are back on the cable. I'm with MWeb. We've had no official report that the repairs have been completed ...

Code:
 4: vl-92.vic-hscore-2.mweb.co.za (196.22.189.3) 121.784ms asymm 5
 5: tengig-0-0-0-0-12.vic-up-1.mweb.co.za (196.22.169.241) 165.950ms asymm 6
 6: rrba-ip-hsll-1-wan.[B]telkom[/B]-ipnet.co.za (196.25.8.249) 122.772ms asymm 7
 7: lon-ip-dir-telecity-gig-1-0-2.[B]telkom[/B]-ipnet.co.za (196.43.9.217) 334.796ms asymm 11
 8: ge-6-2-903.car5.London1.Level3.net (212.113.10.69) 373.505ms asymm 15

I think you'll find if the cable is fully repaired that MWEB and other will slowly start reintroducing that capacity back into their network and releasing the backup capacity that they acquired.

I would guess a day or two after the repair is finalised and MWEB will be back to its standard routing again.

My trace still shows that bandwidth is going via SAT3.

Is there any confirmation from MWEB that things are back to normal?
Im able to connect to Astraweb again, but only getting 70k/sec on my 4mb line!

Can we get some feedback from MWEB to what is happening, when will speeds be back to normal and have all MWEB users been changed back over to the seacom line?

err its Business hours? Shaping rules apply?

I thought there was no shaping or throttling with MWEB uncapped? Well thats what the service agent told me when I signed up.

Shaping != Throttling. There is never throttling. Business accounts are unshaped.

No. Shaping does not equal to Throttling!

Cause with Mweb http and ftp and other are going at full speed 24/7 its Just Usenet/p2p that get shaped.

Exactly. Hence my statement "Shaping != Throttling" -- that is, "Shaping (Shaping) does (does) not (!) equal (=) Throttling (Throttling)".

i must take my hat off to mweb, i think they handled this issue pretty well, kept the important things running, e-mail and banking.
