MWEB Throttling me?

Ive seen a trend in the last couple of days of peple who have just registered on this site and tell us how awful their uncapped is and how another product or company is so much better. Strange.

Take it all with a pinch of salt, I get really hacked when people do this though. Why shaft responses when thats exactly what was asked for? Honestly! And people who sign up for a service without reading the terms should be shot (unfortunately this can't apply for anyone other then MWEB as ISP are changing their Terms and Conditions regularly). People knew this was shaped, ALL THE TIME, never a mention of semi-shaped-like-terms, so it isn't. Gees! Get a life!

Yes that is why i think we have a mole here :D The afrihost concerns seems legit due to the amount of well known posters moaning but even so it seems mole's are everywhere this side trying to run down companies.

Not having any issues with mine, also Mweb 512 uncapped.
 
Some of you guys are so funny, honestly, I know that it is shaped, I phoned MWEB numerous times today asking them if they throttle/shape me for certain things and the reply was NO. I spoke to 3 different technicians today. Don't make silly retarded comments like I don't know what's going on because that BS does not solve my problems at all. I asked for a solution, did you give it to me? NO. It's not that I'm ungrateful for responses, but don't talk to me like I'm an idiot. If you had any proper education you should understand that I pay for a service which I am not getting, it's as simple as that. Also, why have I not been shaped last week? Or the week before? Can you answer that mmm? Does it give a time table in the T&C's? I don't think so.

Thanks to everyone else who gave a valid/applicable comment, I appreciate the help, although I'm still battling.
 
I presume the protocols you are referring to are on port 119, Astraweb et al... well those have been shaped since always. Still though, perhaps you could give us some of the facts, more poignantly so we can offer you solutions. And to answer your question, "Is MWEB Throttling Me?"; the answer is no, they are shaping you.
 
Dude we have had proper education and as you can see you are the only one struggling it seems, so what would you like us to tell you? It seems odd that no one else has come forward in regards to your original post and a well educated person would deduce that is because we are all humming along fine. There is not really anything else we can do to help your situation other than to tell you ours now is there?

Please do a speed test for the 5th time i am asking for one and you cannot supply it.

Uhm.. Mweb do shape during the day, so whoever you spoke to either didn't work for mweb, or you misunderstood.

Then cancel it, you are polluting the pool of users who don't intend to download 24/7 and slow the network for the rest of the people.

If you read the T&C,

2.14 Shaped means that traffic is prioritised and channeled in a specific order, for example web browsing and email traffic will be prioritised;
12.2 You will not use the ADSL Service, directly or indirectly, in a way that:

12.2.1 is harmful, obscene, discriminatory, defamatory or illegal;

12.2.2 constitutes hate speech, incitement to commit criminal acts, or invasion of privacy; infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights;

12.2.3 spreads viruses or other computer or communications software, code, programs or files that impede or destroy the functionality of any computer or communications software or equipment;

12.2.4 interferes with any third party’s use of the ADSL Service;

12.2.5 transmits unsolicited bulk messages (“spam”);

12.2.6 obtains information about or from third parties;

12.2.7 otherwise breaches the Terms or the Agreement; or

12.2.8 in MWEB’s sole discretion constitutes abuse of the ADSL Service or of MWEB’s systems.

12.5 You may not restrict, inhibit or interfere with the ability of any person to access, use or enjoy the Internet or the ADSL Services, or create an unusually large burden on our network or otherwise generating levels of traffic sufficient to impede others' ability to send or retrieve information, or use the ADSL Services in an abusive manner.

12.8 We reserve the right to manage our network in order to optimize its efficiency for the benefit of all our subscribers. We may take any other action we deem appropriate in order to help ensure the integrity of the network experience for all subscribers.

So Mweb clearly has spotted that newsboards are being abused by you, and have shaped that service.

Perhaps a little more patience and some reading of the AUP that you agreed to is in order.

The cause of the problem is karma. It punishes a**holes who rage at people trying to help them.

If you really wanted to be helped then you'd make an effort. Like maybe answer killa. He asked for a speedtest. Twice. He even said "please" (twice).

I might even know how to troubleshoot this, but I think I'll pass & make a "silly retarded comment" as you so finely put it instead: Karma is a biatch.:p
 
Anybody know when MWEB relaxes throttling on newservers in the evening? I switched from Afrihost to MWEB yesterday and my 384kbs line is downloading @ around 6kb/s on the new MWEB account and around 10kb/s on the old Afrihost one. Seems a bit disappointing considering I changed to avoid Afrihost's overzealous policies
 
Whenever the load on the network allows it. This has varied from around 9pm to around 2am past 2 weeks. No fixed time. Also , Your other protocols should be flying at max speed , which you didn't get at Afrihost.

You also won't get the Throttle of Death when you pass 10gig.
