MWEB Throttling me?

Just to be clear, line is not throttled but certain things are shaped heavily. I do not do torrents or news so cannot comment there but rapidshare hovered around 100K for most of the evening yesterday, went to around 300K at about 3am (I have an insomnia thing going at the moment :( ) and back to 100K or less at 7am.

So line is fine, normal browsing is fast enough. There is a BIG difference between being throttled and shaped!

Hi guys, This is my traffic graph on my router

http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/aekritzinger/?action=view&current=trafficgraph.png

I'm on a 512 line and I get throttled back to modem speeds (when downloading Rapidshare premium or Torrents of course) and this continues for the day until the evening it gets bumped and from midnight it will gradually increase until 8am and dropped right down again. So by 6 it almost becomes acceptable for normal downloading. I understood that it would be throttled but this is extreme.

How is throttling applied to accounts, 384, 512, 4096 lines have a percentage capacity set so it if you are on 4096 you are able to achieve speeds that will download stuff but if you are on a 384/512 you get only 5 - 10 K which is pathetic?

P.S. the spikes was me testing normal downloading via Itunes which is not bound to the throttling.

Just spoke with a mate at Telkom. Apparently Mweb folks are getting really crappy downstream rates. Mweb blames Telkom, Telkom said the lines are fine, must be shaping related. Any feedback from Mweb users?

New Mweb account doing fine. Can't complain about speeds, even the shaping is perfectly fine at the moment for me.

Jack this is a 10 day old thread. Seacom is down and we are on backup bandwidth, everything is slow across the board.
