Mweb throttling

That's exactly what we're saying. Don't blame mweb for you being a cheapskate.

Right, I'm relatively good about taking insults but if you want to take a jab anyone's financial situation (not just mine) then you're simply a low and bitter person, you don't know what I can and can't afford or what justifies me being a cheapskate. You think if I could afford 10mbps unshapped uncapped premium I would stay on my 2mb line? Now sit down and learn about limits since you clearly have none. To refer back to your ford metaphor, you think someone is simply a "cheapskate" because they drive the figo when they simply can't afford the mustang?

Sorry not everyone has money to throw at anything they want, I do not see the point in paying more just for a higher cap when I'm happy on the current line speed we have.

Really?

I posted a price comparison with Afrihost. No comment on that.

What other criterion would you consider outside the big 3:
Price
Data cap
Consistent reliable line speed?

On the premium uncapped account Afrihost does look better as it doesn't have a AUP threshold. If you are going to used night surfer data Afrihost also looks better than the uncapped options but if you don't uncapped seems more favourable (If you only stream and upload during the day from say 8am to 10pm).

The home uncapped account however, doesn't look better to me. Only a R2 saving, AUP is 30 gigs less than MWEB. Also the MWEB threshold only applies toward downloads, not uploads. I don't know if that is true for Afrihost account as well. The Afrihost account does however state that it will only throttle you while the network is under strain, which is nice later in the day though.

I am only commenting on this because I have a MWEB account and a Afrihost capped account and for my needs they give me about the same performance of late, objectively though like netflix not buffering, games not lagging etc. But my most recent issues has been with Afrihost just before they did the big network update.

Simple solution

Go to Axxess.

8mbps line with 200gig data is +- R690.00. Excl Telkom's double charge for the voice line.
8mbps line with 100gig data is +- R510.00. Again ditto
8mbps line with 150gig data is +- R620.00. Again ditto

They have a 3 month roll over period pertaining to un-used data. MEANING... If you have a 200gig capped account, whatever is not used rolls over to the next month for 3 months... and so forth.
No I don't work for Axxess.
I moved over from Mweb about 2 years ago.... Happy sailing all the way.
Nothing wrong with Mweb either, just that their packages did not suite me. Still not to great, especially considering certain aspects....

Always try and go capped, as there is little to non shaping and throttling, contrary to UN-capped accounts.

Just my 2cents
