Mweb Uncapped 4Mbit How Is It (Considering Move)

I am also looking at switching from Afrihost 100GB package to Mweb uncapped. Even for a capped account the afrihost speed is really frustrating. Up and down all the time... It's either openweb or mweb...

Hi iceman23

If you would like I could set you up with a free 7day trial account.
PM me your contact details and I'll arrange it for you.
That way you can test the network for yourself and see how it performs. ;)

kind regards
MWEB Guy

I VPN to a UK company, would this be shapped on mweb? What are your ping times to www.rackspace.co.uk ?

--- new.rackspace.co.uk ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 162.970/170.041/193.735/9.647 ms

1mb MWEB Uncapped

I know it says uncapped but is there a limit ito amount of data you're allowed to download. Daily / weekly / monthly?
Saw in the thread earlier 300GB but this seems like way too much?

Hi Sagewan

There is no limit to how much you can download per day/week/month.
All we ask is that you abide by the AUP and the interwebz is yours to download.

Although I must say, downloading the whole interwebz could take some time. :D

kind regards

Hello

I was once a mweb home uncapped 4mbit subscriber and then international news speeds dropped to like 90KB/s after hours and everything started to go rubbish and I moved to openweb and then from openweb to webafrica.

I've found webafrica just fine at the moment but I have found I dont like having a threshold looming over my head, how is mweb these days for the following.

1) Browsing - excellent
2) Streaming - good
3) Http Downloads - fan bloody tastic
4) News (International Paid For Servers) -not sure dont use them anymore
5) Gaming - excellent
6) Steam - not sure
7) Torrents - very good

Ideally I'd like to be able to try this account and I'd signup for sure if I knew it was great.

I'm in Durban if that makes a difference with *inx

Thanks.
Here you go

Personally I have no real complaints with Mweb. They provide an awesome service, that sometimes does run into a hi-cup or two and then you see the spam start in the Mweb Uncapped Feedback thread (I am guilty of this). I've come to accept that **** happens and am quite pleased with Mweb's service offerings.

I, for one, am happy with my 4096 line with MWEB.. for a change I get decent pings and VERY reasonable upload speed > 512kbit/s not that ridiculous 3kbit/sec Cybersmart wanted to give me.

Also considering moving ISP's. Already got trial account. Tired of running out of cap everymonth. :-)

Just upgraded my 1Mbps line to the 4Mbps uncapped package, and honestly, it's freaking brilliant. 16ms ping with 3.8Mbps dl and 504Kbps ul.

No waiting for youtube to buffer AT ALL. Low pings in games, and P2P flies at 400Kbps.

Very very happy with my decision. Will never go to a slower speed. Should have changed sooner actually.

Hi, guys.

I'd like to clarify when you're talking about the 4mb uncapped package. Are you referring to Mweb's shaped or unshaped uncapped account?

I'd also like to know if the service is month-to-month or subject to signing a fixed-length contract? It sounds like everyone here's really happy with the service.

Shaped is the R549pm most people are on, including me ...... not that I see shaping, lol. I'm 99% happy with the account, especially for the price. And no, there is no contract at all.

It is shaped, but seriously, you don't notice it. Unshapped is a hell of a lot more expensive on any ISP. I am paying R900+- for both the uncapped data and the adsl line, so I am not going to be complaining.

No contracts at all, just give 1 calender month notice to cancel.

I have experianced openweb gold and I had to change my account about every two weeks because things would go slow and then end up on say altech where news is non existant or IS where everythings average. So far mweb as I experiance it now is superior to openweb gold while being neck and neck with webafrica.

I wont be going back to openweb.

We had the same problem with openweb . So far mweb the best uncapped adsl .

I am on 4 meg uncapped, and I am very happy, haven't had decent ADSL in months so its a refreshing change

I now use Mweb Uncapped Shaped.

It is great for my business quality connection during the day, stable 200ms ping to the UK +- 1GB data used between 7-5

Then in the evening the account is perfect for youtube and streaming.

I've been an ISP wh*re for many years now.. tried MWEB uncapped when it first came around and it sucked. Was always a big fan of WA because of their latency, up until recently they have become rather unstable - was on their 4MB uncapped which was mostly good. Been on OpenWeb Gold (IS/DSL Heaven/BCS), OpenWeb Silver (BCSNet/IS) - neither of which were any better than anything else I've tried (my least favourite to be honest).

Moved to MWEB 4mb uncapped almost 3 months ago now and besides one incident where MWEB had connectivity issues (sorted out in a very short time - with updates on mybb from MWEB Guy) it has been a breath of fresh air when compared to my experiences with the other ISP's. Their latency is on par with WA from my experience, no retarded rolling caps, decent download speeds - occasionally have a bit of buffering on youtube but generally fine. I work from home and make use of the connection every day - I'd definitely recommend it.

I am also looking at switching from Afrihost 100GB package to Mweb uncapped. Even for a capped account the afrihost speed is really frustrating. Up and down all the time... It's either openweb or mweb...

Interesting, my 4mb WA uncapped ends this month and I was aiming for the Afrihost 100GB next. Heard good things all around so this is surprising..

Hi Joker

If you'd like, I can arrange you a trial account.

Well its been over a month and no problems (aside from a weird re-connect that put me onto some 197 ip range and downgraded me to 1mbit) so I'm officially happy.

I'm on Openweb 4mb Gold at them moment, IS backbone. Only been there for a few months, but I'm starting to consider if its worth the extra money. The service is pretty much as good as the Afrihost uncapped, except it seems to have a higher throttling cap. Could i try a trial account?
