MWEB UNCAPPED ACCOUNTS---> DONT EVEN BOTHER!!

Well after almost 3months of internet problems and about 500mins on the phone M-web are going to escalate my problem for the 50th time! No managers phone you back no one bothers to do anything!!

So please if you thinking of getting one of these accounts at Over R500 per/month maybe think again!!

M-web if you cant support a product....don't sell it!! Lets See If Sonja Bartlet phones me back!

Regards
Wesley Mc Quillan

Hi Wesley,

As I understand it, your technician is dealing with a coordinator at Mweb to get to the bottom of the problem. Sofar we have giving you 2 different accounts and connected you to 2 different routes and you experience the problem on both accounts and both routes. This eliminates IPC as the cause of your problems. The last conversation with your technician was to arrange an uncapped unshaped account for you to test.

Does seem a bit extreme to post a gripe and not actually detail the problem.

Bottom line is that if I had been experiencing problems for the past 3 months (which would never happen), I would have found a suitable alternative ages ago. I mean, I need my connection and would not survive 3 months waiting for it to be sorted.

Mweb are good at promises. They keep you thinking that they will attend to your every need, but in fact are doing zilch. Most of the problems are either caused by Mweb or are out of their hands.

some people just attract bad service to themselves no matter which isp they use. my mweb been fine so far, only had one or two hickups, but that has been dealt with as quickly as humanly possible.

i think what he's trying to say is that mweb customer care / technical section is crap, i used to be with them and its a nightmare they keep u on hold so long u can make a cup of cofee and get back and still wait, also their technical department is only open till 10pm and i think on a sunday its less.

When it comes to customer service MWEB isnt shinning at all, even openweb thats very limited have a quicker response than MWEB

+1

Been with MWEB uncapped since the month after they started ( sorry Afrihost, I can't handle you pre-emptively throttling me because it looks like I might go over your thresholds.. ) and have not had a single bad day outside of network outages.

Hey guys trust me I have been through everything!! I do not like posting things like this, but it seems now day this is the only way to get bigger company’s to sit up and take notice.
We Have 8people working in our office...two of which are web dev. and two p.c Tec’s. We have had telkom here 5times (the Telkom Eng. is a friend of ours) we have changed ports at the exchange, we have tried different lines...same problem. BUT change to a caped shaped connection (axxesslite) everything works. Change back to Mweb same problems........

Now the entire time M-web has been telling me that we run an uncapped shaped account. And we should be running an unshaped uncapped account......but there should be no shaping on HTTP >??
We are having browsing and ftp problems this should have nothing to do with shaping....

I have been with Mweb for more then 10years and have never had problems in the past BUT it seems they can not support there product anymore.

The 4MB uncapped shaped is meant for a home or small office link, not for 8 people to share in an office, as you'll effectively have ( at the very most ) 50kb/s for each person if you are all on it at once. And during the day, there might be no shaping on the http ports, but there will certainly be far less bandwidth available ( due to contention ratios coming into play, mine goes down to around 2.4mb/s, which would give you each under 30kb/s ).

Bottom line is that this account is not meant for heavy use between 8 people, and if you are expecting more than that, perhaps WA's Titan packages are for you? Or Afrihost's 50GB links.

+1 to the mweb support group. Not saying their perfect by any standards, but thanks to their efforts in adsl im saving R3000pm ons adsl ISP fee`s and had very decent service from them so far. Have cleared almost 2Tb`s from them since april on a shared place with a standard account and not a word of complaint from them. Afrihost cut me off after 3 days. Only time I ever had a problem it turned out to be my adsl line, had that reset by telkom and it was fixed.

Or just Mweb's Business Uncapped account.

See the link below:

It is time to cancel your MWEB account; you should not be having issues.

I have informed all my clients that are still with MWEB; that I will charge an additional surcharge of R 500 per month, should they expect me to deal with MWEB.

Well Mweb Operation's post just before yours proved that it was the user's problem, not MWebs.

I'd suggest he moves onto your ISP, he sounds like a great customer to have :D

Bullzeye, the problem is not with bandwidth capacity at all. None of us have any problems with downloading files - I get average speeds when downloading, and after hours when there is only one of us in the office, with only one computer connected directly to the router (for testing purposes), the problem still exists! The problem is with intermittent browsing experience, i.e. 10min waits on signing in to Gmail. Some days we cannot even access the mweb website! Obviously that sounds like a petty complaint but there are way more examples I could give.

The mweb technicians have admitted there is a problem, but over 3 months later have not been able to rectify it. I am sure that there are many people that benefit from their services, but this is just the end of the line for us.

Another thing to note is that we too changed to mweb from afrihost due to numerous issues with their service (not only internet related), and initially the connection was perfect, nothing has changed our side since then. We have merely noticed a severe decline in the quality of the connection since the second major seacom outage.

Then I'd either pin the problem on your router, your ADSL line, or yourself.

Nothing has changed on MWEB's side, and the rep says he's given you two different accounts, and an unshaped one to test with, surely you aren't suggesting that none of these work properly, and if you are, then the common denominator is not the account or the link, it's one of the three things I mentioned about two lines up.

Ofcourse, if he hasn't given you those accounts to test with, then you might have more of a case here.

@wmcquillan

Can you post your Noise Margin and Line Attenuation?

What router are you using?

We have tested with over 3 different routers. (D-Link, Planet and Billion) We have had the ports reset and changed on the exchange. How can the problem be with ourselves? If you can make a valid suggestion on that last point I'll be sure to check it out and get back to you. (I'm not being aggressive, merely curious) :)

We have as of yet not been given the uncapped unshaped account, and when it is being given it will not be given gratis, we will have to pay for any bandwidth used on the account over and above the charges for our malfunctioning one. We demanded that they re-create our account over a month ago but this is, it seems, impossible. Instead they gave us a test account which kept locking us out due to the password being changed at random intervals. When speaking to various technicians, none of them could/would tell us if the account was unshaped and/or uncapped or not and would use the fact that it was or was not, in their defence. (i.e. "it's a shaped account thats why its also not working") we were also asked to try using different realms via telkom/mweb, resulting in no change in the problem.

Regarding the possibility of it being a line issue, how then would you explain the lack of issues when using the axxess account? Maybe telkom is batting for the little guys while trying to shake the competition? (Just joking, I'm not that paranoid).

So after all this, yes it does seem to limit the issue to the points you make above, but then why not come right out and say it - instead of spending three months hemming and hawing while investigating the issue with no sign of a possible conclusion?

@fudzy, I cannot remember where to check these on my router, will get back to you. These too have been submitted to the mweb technicians, along with our CRC error count (which according to the technician I was speaking to at the time, was almost impossibly free of errors?)
