Mweb moved him onto a Business account to see if that would resolve his problems, it seems that there are big issues with Mweb in his area. I'll check FB, I'm assuming you're talking about the Free the web group?

I never encountered any real major issues with Mweb. Only problem was when seacom was down but since then not a single problem I couldn't sorted out myself or was sorted out in about 30min or so. I'm really happy.

My brother was at afrihost and they are one of the crappiest ISP in the world. They shaped him like it's not even funny. he couldn't browse, etc and went to meweb and has never been happier. MWEB for the mother f*****g win. I'm using a 4mb acccount and man it's so fast and I'm also using a lot of bandwidth and never been shaped. latency is also very low and my download speeds is good

I have a problem, My internet for no good reason, is realy slow , as if ive been raped shaped.
It was fine for months now. I have been having my mweb acc since April, lately between 8am - 6pm my MWEB sux, and I realy dont enjoy to play WoW with pings over 3k in the mornings till dusk. It realy ruins my day. Now I am moving to JHB want to buy a house there, and maybe open a buisness, both will be backed up by MWEB uncapped 4mbps/10mbps.

At this stage, this poor service isnt making my mind up for going green and staying with MWEB.

You can do just fine with an Mweb account, wherever you go there will be some sort of shaping, but there are ways to get around it. You can achieve moderate satisfaction from this 'cheaper' service.

At home I use a MWEB 384k uncapped account, the speed for HTTP is always perfect. But when it comes to torrents the speed is horrible, I used to manage to move about 70GB+ of traffic per month for the first 3 months, the past 2 months its been about 35GB of traffic per month.

I've just canceled this account, I'll be moving over to Axxess at the end of the month.


We have 3 x 4MB lines in our office, at first we used MWEB Shaped uncapped on these lines, the speeds were horrible for everything including HTTP. then we switched to MWEB Business Uncapped, the speed is perfect now for everything. The only problem that we have now for the past week, the lines go down randomly, all 3 at the same time, then come back up 5-10 mins later.

i think what he's trying to say is that mweb customer care / technical section is crap, i used to be with them and its a nightmare they keep u on hold so long u can make a cup of cofee and get back and still wait, also their technical department is only open till 10pm and i think on a sunday its less.

When it comes to customer service MWEB isnt shinning at all, even openweb thats very limited have a quicker response than MWEB

I have a 512 Kbps Line, uncapped, unshaped, and I have had nothing but excellent service from there, I get an average speed of about 75 - 90 kbps after 8pm with torrents and maybe roughly 40-55 kbps during office hours, i can't complain at all, they were so quick... efficeint and really helpful

1. I think that the 384 kbps is waste of money, rather go with the 512, and go unshaped.. shaped is a k.ak option.
2. Mweb service is fantastic > lol i got an email address of a technical guy there, he always answers within 5 minutes of me sending the mail, even phoning him, he really gives superb service.
3. Rather spend a little more to get unshaped than getting shaped, it really makes a difference with torrents and mass downloading ( I did approx 70GB last month.. )

my mweb 4mb uncapped is terrible aswell. shaping downloads are one thing, terrible latency and browsing thereof completely unacceptable.

bought into mweb through a reseller before, one of the best experiences i've had the pleasure of experiencing but soon afterwards the reseller claimed a complete loss with that particular product. hmm.. Makes me think what the ISP's actually paying for their bandwidth and how do they manage/allocate this to packages? Who gives the orders around there and are they qualified to do so?

To me, chop and changing isp's every month because the SERVICE is so sPoRaDiC is infuriating. I really cant see how something can be up one day and down the next. Think I will blame the managers of these farmvilles.

I'm hoping on ditching Telkom, fixed line operators and going completely wireless. Adleast they cant steal the copper.

Like HavocXphere suggested this could well be a DNS issue, though if it only happens with some sites its more likely to be a routing issue on the ISP's or their upstream provider's side. I had a similar issue with WA, where some YouTube vids would load at full speed without issue, while others would get stuck randomly and stop buffering completely. WA asked for a few trace routes... haven't had the problem since.

Anyway, you've already changed ISP. If MWEB couldn't solve your problem in all that time they deserve to lose a customer, IMHO.

I've been on Mweb from very short after they started with these uncapped accounts. I set my torrents to run from 2am till 8am everyday. I'd be getting 400kb/s down with 400-500ms latency in WoW. awesome. fantastic. that's exactly what i paid for (not taking the slew of seacom cable breaks into account) Lately im getting 60kb/s on P2P ................ My ping in wow is never below 900ms on EU? I can't raid at the moment... I'm sorry but that's silly... A week or so ago there were instances where I'd lose connectivity for 30min intervals, so I phoned Mweb and they had some issue on their side blocking my connection or something.... can't remember the details but that's kind of what it came down to. That's not very professional. I'm at the end of my rope.

Anyway... Can Mweb explain why their service has gone so sour?

Do you really follow the za forums? I mean listen to your customers or don’t you care? Everybody is complaining about your speeds. Is it that you can’t produce or is mweb losing to their rivals. This has been going on for far to long and what excuses must we still listen and adhere to. Please rectify or adhere to your customers complains and needs.

Called Mweb 2 days ago and told them about the crap Im having. Im on 384 uncapped and my torrents are throttled to the point where they dont even connect. Soulseek which Ive been using for the best part of 10 years are down to 4kb/s no matter what time I download.

The mweb guy told me that they are waiting on more bandwidth and it should be sorted out by next week. Seriously hope so, I joined Mweb on 1October after I got fed up with the Afrihost/IS bull$hit. Now its even worse on mweb.

Just another thing. Why the HELL do they throttle us 384 users?? What damage can we do? Seriously....some people on here download the best part of 1TB every month while the most Ive racked up is about 40gb. Why!!??

40GB on a 384kbps line is pretty decent already.

Stop using torrents and download from Mweb news server instead. I can guarantee you that you'll get better speeds if you download stuff that are in high demand.
