MWEB uncapped ADSL: Cool facts

ROFL, 160million spam emails. Obscene!

Wonder how much international bandwidth that lot eats. Guess if you can drop most of it from RBL's, etc, based on the headers, the mail could be rejected before the DATA section would be transmitted.

Not worth trying to do a first pass filter at the other end of the international link, I suppose. You could do tricks with DNS to give ZA peeps a local MX, and international senders would get a filtering MX on the other end of the link. It might be worth considering . . .

When did Jensen join MWeb? I can't think of any other company that has accomplished such a massive turn-around, although Cell-C appears to be pushing boundaries as well. I used to despise MWeb - they were the over-priced ISP that just seemed to take advantage of people unaware of what else was out there. Now they're leading the way and totally changing people's expectations and perceptions regarding broadband.

Yeah...Until you actually subscribe to them and realise that their service can be pretty shaky and often unreliable.

Dont change a thing Mweb, my 384k account is the best ever

Ditto, my opinion of Mweb is the exact opposite to what it used to be. Imagine what might be accomplished if they didn't have to go through Telkom.

In case any of you were wondering... Rudi Jansen also emphasized that there are no hidden caps and no throttling on an MWEB Uncapped account. I spoke to him briefly at the conference last week and he said to me that their main concerns when it comes to abuse are people who bypass the shaping and those who run several heavy downloaders on one line. When I told him I was pulling between 60-70Gb a month, he said that wasn't even going to put me on the radar.

I agree – MWEB’s turnaround has been amazing. It is certainly no easy task, and to sell the idea to shareholders can be challenging. Well done Rudi Jansen.

As for self provisioning – they are doing it. In SA IPC and doing your own national and international bandwidth is as good as it gets…

For me, the internet is a much happier place thanks to MWeb. No more having to split local and internation. No more waiting till the end of the month before I download. No more having to find local alternatives because my international is finished. Oh and no more having to worry about going over the local cap. They deserve all the props.

Telkom, you are the telecommunication's Devil!!! Please explain why it is more expensive to buy local IPC capacity through yourselves than getting international elsewhere.

You really are ***** and I can't wait for you to go under!

I can only speak from my experience, but apart from the Seacom drama with the cable break they've been as reliable as any other ISP I've used. Been using them for a few months now and very happy.

+1 Been with them since they launched, i pull around 50-60gb on my 4mb uncapped per month (this month being the exception +- 80gb) and i have yet to experience problems.

Only issues was seacom, and that seemed to stabalise now.

I have a 10mb telkom line and i sync @ about 8(if i use WA), and my downloads with mweb is a constant 430 - 480 kb/s, that is peak and off peak.

Not sure if i am one of the lucky ones, but i am LOVING my MWEB account.

I think MWEB are trying their best to sastify and listen to the demands of their clients.More than any ther player. They deserve credit for that.
