Good Evening GaskooN

Are you streaming while you are running downloads?

How are you connecting, wireless or via cable? How many active devices are on your network at the moment?

Nope, not even downloading.

Iv just tried doing a http download from avast and its going at 20k/s. Iv got my bandwith monitor up so i can tell there's no update running. Im running via cable.

edit: trying fnb account and im getting fullspeeds.

you cannot compare your fnb account to your uncapped shaped account, especially if the fnb account is a capped account.

Please let me know what your experience is like when you start using your MWEB account again.

Okay mweb guy, so let me get this straight. My 2mbps uncapped account with my 2mbps line is meant to go at 20k/s?

I Just told you it's crawling under mweb, i tested with another isp to rule out my router/line. Therefore logically somethings up with my mweb account.

I have re-authed your account, please reboot for 5 min and let me know if that makes a difference. I cannot pick up anything wrong with your MWEB account at the moment though.

Looking at your usage for this month and today it doesn't seem that bad.

Please also let me know how many active devices you have on your network at the moment?

Good Evening,

Are your download speeds running at 50 to 60% the whole evening?

Looking at the amount of data you have moved today, it doesn't seem that bad.

Heya,

Well, Like I mentioned it appears that speeds is "throttled" in the evenings. Might be a port 119 thing since the download would start off at a high speed then it moves down to about a 50% / 60 % mark and stays there. I haven't sat at the PC at all times, but from what i can recall it appears to be like that the whole evening. Currently only running at 569 Kb/s, where I would get 1000+Kb/s in the mornings and weekends. I would have to presume it's better after midnight at this stage.

Please provide me a tracer to mweb.co.za and bbc.co.uk

Hi,

I'd like to say that I was not able to complete a credit card payment through MWEB on the vcs.co.za website.

The site would not load at all.

Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.vcs.co.za.

https://www.vcs.co.za/vvonline/ccform.asp

I rebooted the router, still got a time out.

I then went with my backup iBurst connection and it all worked like a charm immediately.

Here is an MWEB traceroute to vcs.co.za:

Starting to sound like Webafrica when all their ***** started.

This whole week my downloads have been crawling and at this very moment there isn't a single bit coming through.

And like the people are saying, youtube streaming is out the door now. Since these Telkom upgrades everything has gone downhill.

Hi Space_Chief

I will test this on our side and let you know what my finds are. Will provide you feedback during the course of the day.

Hi Reaver.ZA

Is it only the downloads that are going slow? How is your general browsing experience?

High pings in Diablo 3 last night (was unplayable), and torrent speeds throughout the night never went above 65KB/s (on a 4mbps line)...

Is there an issue somewhere?

Regarding downloads last night; my average speed was ~87 KB/s with NNTP and torrents combined over a 14 hour period.

YouTube is also pretty terrible. I can stream 360p with occasional buffering but anything over that is a no go.

4Mbps account

General browsing is ok, but torrents were barely running like copacetic mentioned. Youtube streaming was also terrible.

It's pretty obvious that shaping seems to be the culprit, but the real question is why it's so aggressive al of a sudden?

Same here, been having to resort to 240p for the last couple weeks. 2mb this side. Downloads have been going strong, but youtube clearly seems to be throttled.

Note: This has been a continued thing this whole month. Downloads sometimes max out my line, so I doubt there is a problem there, but Youtube has consistently been a horrible experience. I used to be able to watch 360p videos on my 1mb line, ever since 2mb came out, that has stopped. Mweb guy, please can you stop shaping youtube!

+1

The last month I have not been able to get a stable 100KB/s on youtube videos and have to resort to backup capped accounts to have any hope of streaming.
