MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Hi Everyone

I noticed you were having issues with youtube, please can you provide me the following via private messaging:

- what DNS settings are you using?
- your MWEB username

Something that I noticed. I was on a 1MB Uncapped account with a 1MB line and for the past month and a half I have also experienced extreme throttling. I was getting about 60kb/s max streaming youtube and torrents would download at 1kb/s until 11:00 PM when I get full line speed.

I'm currently on a 2MB Uncapped data account with a 1MB line (don't ask) and I get full 1MB line speed 24/7 which definitely indicates throttling and not shaping.
 
Streaming works perfectly for me, as well as http and torrent downloads. However I've been disconnected about 100 times today already on IRC but only on the shadowfire server, quakenet has no issues at all, and I've been unable to log in to the D3 EU server for the past 3 days.

These issues aren't happening on my backup WA account which is now capped for the month :(

Afternoon, we do not throttle at all.

If you are obtaining full line speeds on your torrents on a shaped account, that would indicate that you may be bypassing our shaper.

Good Day bradrap, does the gaming disconnections happen throughout the day?

Hi Mweb Guy,

I definitely do not bypass any shaping. I am fully aware of the UAP. What I meant when I said I get full line speed 24/7 was that whenever I download or stream video whichever time of the day, I get full line speed. It's probably implied that I'm torrenting 24/7 which is not the case. You can check my account if you will.

I just found it weird that when I was on my 1MB account I couldn't get full line speed on any protocol until 11:00pm but after I switched to a 2MB account (whilst on the 1MB line) I got full 1MB line speed on protocols not shaped...

This is really strange as your line should still be governing your speeds. Your line readings are poor as well, the attenuation is at 63dB.

Please provide me speed test readings and screen shots of the speeds you are obtaining. Please provide me the results over a period of a few days and different times of days.

Also may I go ahead and turn on monitoring on your MWEB account?

We are not throttling that I can guarantee you.

Thanks Mwebguy. You can turn on monitoring. I've had a 63 attenuation since I got dsl (2 years ago) and oddly enough I was syncing and running stable on 2mb until recently.

I will pm the speedtest when I get off from work.

Hi Bradrap,

I experienced the same when I was on a 2MB line. The first week it ran flawless and after that it could only sync from 6pm to 6am.

I had to drop my sync speed in order to have a working internet connection during the day.

Your tracers seem fine.

I would like to get our gaming team to test from our side. However your line conditions do not look good.

Your line is syncing at 3MB and your is quite high: 57.6 dB.

My line attenuation has always been pretty ****ty but the connection itself has always been solid. Http, streaming, torrenting, all hassle free.

I have asked our gaming team to test from our side, however the line we testing on has way better readings.

Are you torrenting while gaming? This will definitely affect your gaming. Please ensure that all traffic is stopped and not paused before you try gaming.

I generally don't torrent during the day, fair usage and all that :)

But I don't really have issues with my games, it's only D3 the login server which I'm having issues with atm and the local IRC constantly dropping. I've tried turning off the firewall on my router but unfortunately didn't make a difference.

Can I activate monitoring on your account, then you can advise me when you try accessing D3?
 
Please do, although Dreamhack has started so I probably won't try again until later this evening.

I'll pm you the times which I'll attempt to login and make sure no other traffic is running.
