Its slow as hell pausing every 3/4 secs...

whats going on?

I don't follow what you're saying. All they say is that we can cancel with a calendar month's notice, the legal definition thereof being the corresponding day in the following month less one day.

"Which termination will take effect on the first day of the month immediately following the end of the applicable notice period."

It says that a single calendar month must be given and then only at the end of the month that the end of the notice period falls in will termination occur.

There is an interesting note though. MWEB cannot remove your service for high downloads without the same notice period + end of month.

I see what you're saying. It's BS though. What if someone gives notice on the 2nd or 3rd day of a month? That's basically two months of unwanted service. I'm going to encrypt all my traffic and download 24/7. Hopefully Mweb will cancel my account before April.

I agree, I've also heard guys in Joeys saying the past month has been a support nightmare. Someone is messing with something I reckon.

i was wondering. since MWEB cannot cancel my account until May 1 due to their billing system (i assume). Is there anything stopping me from blocking the debit order for April? is this illegal, i cannot see how? we pay for the month in advance so this is just ensuring that I do not pay for April.

please clarify with me MWEB?

It could escalate into something that's more trouble than it's worth. If you don't come right with the cancellations department, rather try get kicked off the network in the next few days by encrypting 24/7 downloads or downgrade your account to the cheapest thing Mweb offers.

You can't expect Mweb Guy to tell you how to do his employer out of money.

i just wanted to find out whether its company policy dictating my delay or whether its the outdated billing system thats delaying my cancellation. If it's company policy then sure, I will wait till May and the debit order can go through next month.

If the whole reason is just an old outdated billing system thats causing the delay, then I see no issues in me blocking the debit order.

Mweb Guy, what is wrong with Mweb's Network???

No NNTP, Skype authenticates but can't make calls, Youtube is slow, can't even watch a 240p video.

Speedtests are good, getting 3.5mbps down and 0.41mbps up......

Makes no sense, I switched to a IS account and NNTP, Skype & Youtube all work 100% on the same line.

I don't know, It has been up and down for two weeks now, getting really frustrated, If it was my hardware the IS account would do the same, but IS works perfectly compared to Mweb............

Any reason why streaming is pathetic on both youtube and netflix

Hi Lino

Tell me has this improved at all ?

Also are you only experiencing issues with streaming ?

Hi The_librarian

Has the speed improved ?

If not then can you setup up your router with the Telkom guest details and do a speed test on www.saix.net and send me those results.

Note that non-payment to MWEB will get you slapped with an ITC record
for silly small amounts even.. so I wouldn't risk something like R539

Hi MWEB Guy

Thank you for your response.

The streaming was an issue from 6PM until 11PM last night (don't know after that as I went to bed.) I did not try any other layer 4 protocols last night.
I haven't been at home today, will test again tonight after work and will provide an update.

Thanks
Lino

From that link...
My ex husband opened an MWeb account using my ID number (yes I am not sure how MWeb approved this) in 2000. When I applied for car finance last year 2012, I was told that I have a listing on ITC from MWEb and they had handed the account over to ITC Debt Administrators. I immediately called ITC Debt Admin and was told that the amount was R450.00. I paid the amount and sent proof of payment to ITC. They told me that they do not list people on ITC so I have to talk to MWeb. I called and was sent a letter from MWeb stating that I had paid my husbands account and a promise that my ITC blacklisting would be lifted.
Well it is now 2013 and neither MWeb or ITC debt administrators have taken me off the ITC blacklisting and it is still affecting me.
I call and call and call the MWeb call centre and get told that it will take 3 days to remove and nothing.. I am now going to the Consumer Council and my lawyers will be in touch with MWeb.
:wtf:

Hi Mweb

Busy trying to download latest Nvidia driver but downloading at 80KB/s with nothing else running.

Wonder if its Mweb or my Telkom Exchange

Hi Lino

Quick test to see if the exchange is congested is to do a traceroute. If the 2nd hope is high, it normally points to a congested exchange.

Thank you Mweb Guy, didn't think of that ;-)
