I am not a heavy user, and apart from a few Seacom problems, I honestly enjoyed my time with MWEB, but I sent the cancellation form just now, not because of the new AUP and possible throttling on the premium uncapped products, but simply because I trialed a few other ISP's and found pure internet joy and transparency for less than the price a sixpack more per month. Signing up with an ISP is not like taking out a 20 year bond, but more like buying good new jeans, if the pair you have does not fit or appeal to you anymore, go out shopping and find the perfect fit.

You guy's dont give a @## attitude towards this self created fiasco is quite astonishing. But it's fine, people will respond with their wallets

I suspect that there is method in their MADNESS

AUP letters to all the "abusers".
Rack 'em off enough that they cancel their accounts and go and abuse elsewhere. Free up their network. After all it is only 3% of their users they are sending the mails to. So they lose 3% that are "hurting" their network.
What they appear to not do well is manage the MWEB users on MyBroadband that did not get the AUP. I have chatted with some of them and the ones that did not get AUPs are also going to leave MWEB.

So MWEB will probably lose 5% instead. Big whoop for them really I guess.

Well I have been given the AUP letter. So off I go. Afrihost, Openweb, etc here comes Jonny!

I seem to remember a statement that all your calls are recorded?

That said would it be correct to conclude that the parameter MWEB is using to determine abuse is the quantum of data used on on a specified product and that this quantum differs between the standard uncapped and the premium uncapped. Or does this mean the only difference between standard and premium is the speed once throttled or possibly a combination of both?

If MWEB is going to enforce their AUP from 1 September does that mean anyone downloading illegal content will now be acted against?

Thanks for your response.

After being ignored for the second time by MWEB I have also decided to switch from MWEB for my uncapped account - Thanks MWEB for the lack of information

Perhaps, I am not sure though. I mean how many of MWEB user base is as informed as the lot of us on Mybroadband. I can tell you now the old folk who are never effected by this (and actually see an improvement because of the MWEB AUP) will be non-the-wiser. And I am not convinced that the majority of MWEBers are actually aware of what is going on.

So the 5% caters for all the "old folk" who know peeps like us and go where we advise em.

I dont care, he works for them so he is Mweb
As far as I can see MWEB Guy has been very helpfull in helping people here. With regards to doing his job, he seems to be reliable within the boundaries of his own powers. Don't kill the messenger, he does not make policy.

He represents a company on this forum, he is the one entry point into MWEB, he is their messenger and also their mouthpiece. He and MWEB are one and the same as far as i am concerned

You forgot that after all is done and dusted due to their AUP the top 3% of the remaining consumers are effectively abusing their network again.

Cheers MwebGuy, it was nice while it lasted but definitely NOT a good experience the last few months.

Super bad performance
Lagging spikes killing my games
Cycling downloads
Super slow torrents
Super idiotic new AUP
MwebGuy (Mwebs clones) lies and obfuscation and standard paste and copy excuses and withholding the real truth.
Mweb Engineers not knowing what they doing experimenting with live trials
Super idiotic CEO
Naspers DSTV politics, corruption and fraud (raping the consumer for every logic bit transferred) moving into ADSL arena.

Even my browsing was a slow disaster

You are not a patch of what you were when you Revolutionized the ADSL Arena. You are in second speed reverse.

Bye, I just hope my final month will be at least a consolation effort from Mweb side. Just try a bit please.

I agree to an extent that is happening. More folk are getting in to the "know". And I think Mr CEO of MWEB has taken the risk. Not sure a calculated one. But his premise is certainly that they will lose 5%+- of their base that are fully using the service, hence freeing up the pipe and improving service to others.

But all of the above is just an indication of having to make business decisions because you actually are not able to keep up with service usage. An indication to the likes of us that things are not structurally sound at MWEB. Good reason to get out before it degrades further. That is my take at least.
