same line, same settings

Thanks for the information.

Same issue as what others explained. 4Mbps account running at 1Mbps. Enabled protected access, reconnected, and back to full line speed... -shrugs-

With protected access enabled I still get the random 1mb/s bug

Good Evening Mike43110, please change your username realm to @dslmweb.co.za and let me know if that makes any difference.

Also the amount of data you've moved today, would suggest that you have been obtaining more than 1MB speeds. However as you say the drop in speeds are random.

Could not connect to speedtest at all yesterday, just timed out. Downloads varied from 6bP/s to 120kB/s. ETA on a 240MB download was 6days.

This was around linchtime yesterday. Anybody else have issues around that time?

Morning Gerhardva

Did you manage to do a tracert & ping at the time and what type of download was it? Did it only happen during lunchtime? Which speed test were you trying to use?

Hi, no I didnt do a tracert. Was using the speedtest on MWEB page. The slow speeds persisted for the most of the day.

I was trying to download from a torrent, the same file used to come down in excess of 400kb/s.

Is there something wrong with the network?

I'm away for a week, only wife and kids on the net, and I come back to this:
Download Speed: 393 kbps (49.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 298 kbps (37.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 513 ms
Test conducted on Mon 18 Mar 2013 08:43:25 AM SAST

Download Speed: 225 kbps (28.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 230 kbps (28.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 696 ms
Not a great way to start the week.
:(

sorry mweb guy, pm'd you. my 4Mb uncapped account is not sorted, I thought it was, but upon further tested, the mweb uncapped account becomes slow and erratic right after modem reboot. Testing a webafrica account (IS) runs at full speeds.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 1038 kbps (129.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 434 kbps (54.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

Hi Gerhardva

All Torrent is treated equally.

Unfortunately, we are not permitted to troubleshoot issues related to specific torrents/torrent sites, due to the nature of the content.

Hi MWG

I am also experiencing a major slowdown on my line.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2581678480.png

Here's a local one done from your website... (I have a 4mb line)

Last Result:
Download Speed: 756 kbps (94.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 379 kbps (47.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

Any streaming media (kickstarter vids, youtube etc) buffers every 10 seconds or so, on anything higher than 240p.

Please can you help me out?

Many thanks

The entire morning was fine. Afternoon was the same, I was still getting great image load speeds on my program (not a torrent program or a bypass program, image accumulator to try save re downloading the files constantly). Then all of a sudden it just dropped to abysmal speeds which made running it together with browsing slowing to a crawl.

Moving back to dslmweb fixed it.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, resetting the router didn't solve it. Only changing the username.
Once the speed drops, it tends to not come back up until the username switch.

Hi Mweb Guy

Been having issues with my 10 mb line the last 2 months , it didn't even perform like a good 4 mb line. After logging a ticket with your technical guys and waiting for a month I decided to downgrade the line to 4 mb. Now I get 1 mb to 2 mb speedtest's and I do alot of streaming and it always have to buffer doing playing everything , sometime I think the issues been resolved but the it back to slow responses. This happened this whole weekend, looks like i will have to downgrade again because I don't even get good 4 mb responses. I was on 4 mb before and I had the best experience at mweb, always full speed, use to do about 200 gb every month, now however if i'm gonna do 100 gb it will b alot. It got so bad I had to buy capped accounts from other providers, where I get 7 to 8 mb speedtest just so I can stream something.

I'm currently on a 6 month contract with mweb, is there anyway you can have the account cancelled or at least fixed as im actually considering having it downgraded to the lowest speed so I can get a account elsewhere where I actually get a decent speed on my 10 mb line.
