MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

I didn't say Gmail was old fashioned, I said accessing email through a web browser is. If Outlook is too complicated, Windows Live Mail is awesome. And who doesn't have mail on their phone?

You're doing something wrong if a desktop client is slower than the web browser. You just open the application and wait a second for your mail.

That is slower than simply having a pinned gmail tab in your alread-always-open browser on a desktop.
And I don't have mail on my phone, as my phone is not a smartphone. Not everyone uses nor wants to use on, assuming they have one, mail on their smartphone as the rule rather than the exception when they have access to a desktop.

Everything is either slow or times out. even local. And it was suppose to be payday!!!!!

Traffic has been rerouted to where? A dead Win95 box sitting in the Kalahari? Because I'm not getting any international connectivity at all, even after rebooting my router.

Slow/dead, even MyBB took bloody ages to load this thread.

Getting major packet loss pinging Google.com

Everything is either slow or times out. even local.

lost of local sites have google ads.. all my local sites loading slow say "waiting for ***.google.com" at the bottom, incl MyBB

Mwebguy: any news for us, or should i shut shop for the day?

Many local sites are slow to load because they have banner ads that are hosted internationally, so ad-blocking is a good option today. The first culprit is www.mweb.co.za!

AFAIK the discrepancy between 50% packet loss and 'dead' international is partly due to the nature of TCP/IP. When there is congestion the transmitting server lowers the connection speed until enough ACK packets are received. Under severe congestion there is effectively no traffic flow (2KB/sec). I'm still waiting for a webcam image to load from an hour ago...

It's up to you. Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable having Gmail available with one click in my browser, as locking my PC constantly would be shady, and inconvenient. I think it's time to upgrade your phone - the term 'smartphone' applies to almost everything on the market. What exactly are you using? If I have access to my desktop then obviously I'll check my email on it and not my phone.

I skipped the most important point before: any professional has a real email address, which requires an email client anyway. Just add Gmail to that.

:( No man I though mweb had seamless fallover to other cables.

I'm tired of this !@#$ SEACOM IS NOT VERY, VERY, VERY RELIABLE! ONCE SEACOM IS DOWN, THE INTERNET IS DOWN.

Dear MWEB CEO, please learn the meaning of the word 'redundancy'.

How long does it usually take to cancel my MWEB account?

If you give notice before April you'll be a free man end of next month.

Can also report extremely slow speeds/timeouts from PE on MWEB 1mb uncapped. Cell C is seeming to have a similar problem. Although it might be the area I'm in.
