Oh? Please tell me how MWEB or SEACOM are being incompotent? SEACOM had a cable break and are trying to repair the problem, in the meantime they're finding alternative capacity for their customers - MWEB being just one of them. MWEB is also trying to mitigate the fallout by finding alternative capacity for its users. MWEB does have redundancy, but it isn't 1:1. The costs of 1:1 redundancy would be ridiculous for most end users to afford.

The SEACOM issue is beyond MWEB's control, thus how are they being incompotent? SEACOM experienced multiple cable breaks so each break has to be repaired. How are they being incompotent? To be honest I think you're just over reacting for the sake of it. If you're listening to a call centre agent who probably has no expertise in the matter of cable repairs then its your own fault.
Don't get me wrong you need to call out bad service when its there, but as far as I'm concerned this isn't bad service its more like crisis control and mitigation of adverse effects.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Please note that SEACOM have confirmed cable breaks, This could take some time to fix.
SEACOM are obtaining capacity on an alternate cable, that should restore our network to full capacity within the next 24hrs.
Please bear with us during this time.
Any user that changed their default ADSL modem settings to use an international based DNS server (it may have seemed clever at the time), will not be able to access any sites (including local) during this outage. It sounds like several people on this forum have this problem...
MWeb did post an international outage on the network status page, but it is under the 'Other' tab (as if it somehow isn't really important!?)
Whilst that does seem like it's much better value than what Mweb are offering, I do have one small problem with it. Afrihost are advertising it as an unshaped account. It seems very misleading to say its unshaped and that "Everything you do on the internet will work at maximum speed. Browsing, Email, Downloading etc. will all be much faster and there's no need to worry about hitting your cap."
Only then to find out that it's only unshaped during business hours and that they throttle you after a certain amount of bandwidth... It's not an unshaped account at all then is it? It seems like their intention is to mislead unknowing customers. That's false advertising.
However, as i said, still far better than what mweb are offering.. the big question is how does openweb gold shaped compare to afrihost's business "unshaped" account?
