MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

I suggest all of you send a request for refund for the outage period. I am at the moment "cruising" at 7.5KB/sec - it will be faster to tether my iPhone on a wonky Vodacom-/MTN-Edge connection. (I have now resulted to tethering with a CellC SIM - getting 300KB/sec).

I think you need MWEB Business to have redundancy. Residential do not get so much redundancy.

We have 1 x Mweb Business internet account (and 1 x Mweb Premium account) and several IS Business internet accounts. Remote support result in regular timeouts and disconnects, it is a horror to access our Panda Security and CentraStage backends.

Yea it's just normal uncapped. Look like for better or worse MWEB is the better option for high traffic.

I think Openweb is the best ISP for heavy downloading. You can do anything on Gold Uncapped and they'll leave you be.

Afrihost Business Uncapped is the best value for money though. To need more data than the rolling threshold is just obscene imo. I download whatever I so desire, as does my family, and I think 550GB is the all time highest usage in a month for our household. Being totally unshaped during office hours is epic too.

We pay a company to render us an service to allow us to conduct business, yes we can quickly get an operational temporary account which will allow us to continue, but this is no excuse to the ISP’s which is lacking backup connectivity.

There are crappy companies in every industry. There's absolutely nothing wrong with complaining about poor service, but you can't keep flicking the light switch and expect it to work after a while. I'm changing to Afrihost Business Uncapped tomorrow, after submitting cancellation notice nearly a month ago.

Vote with your wallet.

"MWEB
We've received an update from Seacom: Due to the number of affected cables the restoration work is taking longer than expected and is unlikely to be completed today.

Seacom are doing everything possible to restore services as soon as they can. We will update you again once we have further news."

Old news. Seems clear that this will be a prolonged affair.

Where are the MWEB responses to what we are asking. Seems that management from MWEB don't give a ****. They don't seem to care if a lot of clients leave because they will still get another months payment out of us anyway.

Anyone got a link to cancellation forms?

For once Karma was on my side - cancelled before end of last month - signing new isp tomorrow, looks like Seacom is going to disrupt Mweb for a while

Cancelled at the Mweb store Canal Walk - wanted to be sure there are no slip ups in the process ;-)

As far as i know there is no mweb store anywhere near where i live :(

Oh and congrats on the new ISP.

MWEB Guy will we get a refund for the outage period?? This is getting a bit out off hand now, some of us are loosing money because we make a living of the internet :(

Like i said before: This is were telkom *spit* gets a star from me, at least they give you something back when your ADSL goes down and the fault is with them.

The problem I think is that Mweb has burned their bridges with other suppliers so they cant even reroute us by other means.

For local and international server (on speedtest.net), I am getting 1.75mb/s download. However, when doing actual downloads I am not even getting kilobytes. This is just ridiculous

They promised it will be sorted yesterday. It isn't. Just canceled both my mweb accounts. Going to try out Telkom internet's uncapped, which is cheaper.

I remember when we only had SAT-3, we never had issues like this, prolonged outages. With Seacom / WACS / EASSy and SAT-3 there is more than enough bandwidth for africa. So in actual fact this is really bad, for a company the size of MWeb not to have enough redundancy, so that we can at least browse websites and skype.

I'm sad and happy that MWEB's image is getting dented as I'm writing this silly post :D

What other suppliers?

Well i know that Telkom has majority shares in SAT3. Don't think Mweb can get help from them. Not sure about the rest though. Just remember there was a lot of talk from suppliers about Mweb going stand alone.
