They should give everyone discounts because this is crazy paying full price for something and can't even open a web page
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
Afrihost has had problems in the past, but they seem to have settled in to their new environment. I'm not recommending home uncapped, I'm recommending their business uncapped. It's a far superior experience than anything you'll find elsewhere for the same money.
International will be slow during this time of the Seacom outage as we running on reduced capacity.
I just purchased 1GB prepaid from Afrihost to use now.
MWEB, please can you refund me the cost of this purchase, as your service is no longer usable. Thanks.
Nothing wrong with their home uncapped btw. Been on it for months (4mb uncapped). I didn't actually had any issues on the MTN network except for a week of high latency.
Two or three hours ago everything came to a halt. Clearly the shaping isn't working so how about throttling everyone to one third of their normal speed? I've had some pages take over 90 minutes to load, if you've got 30 % bandwidth rather give us a proper 30 % of our line speeds, or even 20 %. Drop 1mbit users to 384k, drop 2mbit users to 512k, drop 4mbit users to 1mbit and drop 10mbit users to 2mbit. You're then reducing the maximum potential traffic to less than 30 % of the normal, so everyone should in theory get a very stable connection.
But guys, honestly there is nothing Mweb Guy can doso I think we (including myself) need to have a slight bit more respect for him, as he is here trying to help.
Of course, it's not his fault and he can only tell us the information he has been given. But he can also pass our experiences and frustrations on so that MWEB understands what we, the actual users, are experiencing in reality.
Mweb guy
Will you please tell us (Mweb customers) why Mweb is not using other routing techniques like the other ISP's and what Mweb plans to do in the future to prevent this kind of situasions?
My personal opinion is that Mweb should look at another backup cable provider for times like this when Seacom goes down.
You mentioned on a earlier post that we should not compare mweb to other ISP's but how can we not? Mweb is the only ISP who lacks backup plans for its users...
Your feedback regarding this will be greatly appreciated.

Mweb Guy do you care do give feedback on the above post?
