Line stats are fine, connections to pc fine
Started this afternoon, any ideas?

Hi,

It looks like it could possibly be congestion based on the spike from the second hop.
Is it always like this or does it come and go?

Please provide me comparative speed test results with your two accounts and trace routes to mweb.co.za and bbc.co.uk

I will also provide you the guest account details via private message.

By the looks of your results yesterday, your exchange may be congested. I will log a fault once I receive the results.
 
My ADSL connection dropped 12 times yesterday. MWEB support says, new router, as the router is disconnecting. Yet it will connect, and stay on for hours and then just disconnect for no reason. I will get a new router and see.
 
I have this exact same problem. Yesterday it dropped about 5 times in 30 min. I suspect it is more a Telkom issue however, unfortunately they don't seem to be very eager to look too deep into it :/

Good Morning Gerhardva,

I would suggest first testing your router at another location or using another router at your location before purchasing another router.

Also have your filters tested, as this can also cause dropped connections.

I tested the speeds yesterday and it seemed normal even while it was impossible for me to get connected to your dota2 server. I can watch twitch streams without any problem but connections to game servers and some websites are really bad :/

Thanks for the feedback, are you having the same experience on both your accounts?
 
Just sent in my cancellation form this morning.
I am so glad I did.

Never did I experience such bureaucracy from any other ISP.

Sign up - Fill in a form and sign, scan and return or fax
Password reset - Fill in a form and send back (with no internet access; they don't give a crap)
Cancellation - Guess what? Another form to fill in and return!

Support has been absolute rubbish, with junior people and so called "network engineers" being poorly skilled in both networking basics as well as people skills.
I can see that MWeb will take their time with my circuit transfer out of spite.... Apparently there is a 48 hour turnaround time for cancellation requests. Wow....they've certainly taken a few pages out of Telkom's book.

I'll only come back to MWeb if:

- They drop their prices significantly and offer some competition
- If I really have to and am left with no other choice

Do you by any chance have any further information regarding exactly what the problem is?

It's been quite a while now and would just be cool to know what the problem is and why it's taking so long to get fixed.

OK, replaced router and all filters, and my line is still dropping, so what now?

It also possible that the problem could be with the line itself dropping the connection.
Have you tested with your account and equipment at another location?

Brand spanking new Netgear 300. When I suggested it's the line, I got told quite emphatically that it's the router.
 
News server is absolutely dead.

Test the server and get the error that it has been reset by peer.
 
News server acting like it should, stable in game ping for a while now and streaming not acting like a spoilt brat.

Just something positive for the thread Mweb Guy ;)
