Kindly provide us these limits. You keep on saying keep withing the limits, but you forget to give us the limits.

If you need an example this might help:

Hi CyCliC

Times have changed

The needs of the average internet user are constantly increasing. This is because more and more people are making use of high demand applications, such as HD video streaming, tablets, mobiles and multiple devices in the same household.

This trend has led to a situation where the bandwidth consumption of abusive users is having an increasing impact on the needs of the vast majority of customers.

To ensure that we can continue to offer you a great service at an affordable price, we have to manage data traffic a little bit more carefully.

Rofl. So let me get this straight. Because the nature of data consumption is evolving and people consume more because of it, they are abusers. In fact you specifically refer to people who watch HD content. Okay cool. So HD content watchers are abusers. Who else?

And so instead of evolving to the changing data consumption habits due to increased online content and users changing how they receive content, you instead suggest that your users not evolve and you berate those that do.

You refuse to invest in your network and blame your users instead. Then admit that data usage is evolving but threaten your user base who do evolve with it. Publicly!

What a mess...

I also received a letter effectively stating that I am abusing certain defined parameters.

As a mweb subscriber since the introduction of their uncapped products (both the 4mb uncapped and currently the 1mb uncapped) I have never received any previous warning or abuse notification of which I am aware. My average usage per month is about 140GB. Calling Mweb support re above letter I was told that this mailer was sent to all uncapped subscribers exceeding 100GB usage per month and they do not know what the actual parameters applied will be. I am also trying to establish if the 1mb uncapped(premium) and 2mb uncapped products are now being treated the same.

Based on above quotes certain info seems contradictory with what I was told and I would be surprised if less than 3% of mweb's uncapped subscribers are using under 100GB per month - please clarify.

Hi MWEB Guy

I realize as a 1MB Uncapped subscriber I do not contribute massively to Mweb's bottom-line however I am still disappointed that it is deemed unnecessary to respond to my query above. In the event that it was missed or query misunderstood let me try again.

You have stated repeatedly that if you have received the email you are classified as an abuser who falls into the very few (3%) of your subscribers who will be effected by the changed policies on the uncapped premium accounts unless your usage patterns change. During my telephonic call to Mweb's support line I was told that the mailer was sent to all subscribers who exceeded 100GB usage pm and although the so called defined parameters were not known to the support staff not everyone who received the email would be impacted. Please confirm the correct version. As discussed on the telephone I find a product sold as uncapped but being restricted by some arbitrary parameters that MWeb is not prepared to disclose to be unacceptable and would require proper notification of changes in the products terms (with full details of the conditions with which I am expected to comply) in line with the notice period expected from me in cancellation notifications. Please respond.

When MWeb launched the 2GB standard uncapped product I considered upgrading my package but was informed that the 1MB product was better for my usage patterns which at the time was not consider abuse. During my call on Friday I was told that allowable usage 2MB product should be more than on a 1MB product. A day ago on this thread you stated that standard uncapped is throttled and premium uncapped is not throttled. Please confirm if after the proposed changes there will be any difference between standard and premium uncapped or will both now be throttled but at different levels?

Hi mikef

I can't answer for what was discussed between yourself and the consultant however will say that MWEB has not given any thresholds.

From 1 September,MWEB will be enforcing the AUP.

Standard products are more affordable and aimed at the casual uncapped user, with a lower throttled rate.

Our premium products have more relaxed speed limits and these will only be applied when usage reaches levels which we deem to be abusive. The parameters for bandwidth management are more lenient on our Premium Products and will only affect a very small percentage of our customers.

Dude, shut up. What happens when your precious 97% becomes the 3% in 5 or 10 years time. You think that the 3% is not going to grow as we move forward and tech becomes cheaper and more accessible? As HD and streaming services become the norm? So you're just going to increase the throttling as time goes by because you idiots can't handle? What sort of retarded strategy is that?

FFS STOP LYING throught your teeth for the past few months I could not even stream a 720P Utube video properly. Now tonight a torrent of 20M with 20000+ seeders and 1000 leechers are running at a fantastic 5Kbps.

Stop appeasing Mweb. Youre a fsuckup even without your new AUP or it is effectively running already, only the enforcement (banning) will start from September. Your company turned from the best ISP to corporate thieves overnight to make me pay R539 for this shiite service. What is your contention ratio now. Wait all I will get is another befuddled answer or outright lie.

I'm just sending my cancellation through. Fsuck MWeb and their CEO.

Question for MWEB Guy, what is the difference between the regular uncapped accounts and the premium uncapped.
I thought that the regular account could be throttled but the premium would not be. If they can both be throttled
now then what is the point of premium?

30 day rolling window. So monthly usage will be the determining factor.

3% claimed abuse by official representative.

Clearly there is a monthly number that they know. For each account speed and type.

When they claim that there are no set parameters, they are lying! Plain and simple...

Same bull**** - tell us the levels you deem abusive so we can manage out accounts - if no level given, then no abuse!!!!!!
