Same issue as last night streaming from supersport.com. Was fine this morning, am really irritated now just wanted to watch Coventry swim!!!!

I'm experiencing very bad lag on Twitch and Own3d.tv streams. Also very slow buffering on Youtube. When checking the bandwidth in Netlimiter, I noticed that I am not getting over 100KB/s down on my 2mbps line.

Please can I get some help Mweb guy.

PS: I am not using Googles DNS anymore, like you told me in the old thread.

Hi ScottulusMaximus

I checked the account, everything seems fine. I re-authed the account, please power down the router for 30 minutes and test again after that.

Hi dasco144

Are you only experiencing this lag when streaming? How is general browsing?

Hi Mwebguy,

'Tis with a heavy heart I must cancel my account - if Afrihost are no good then I'll be back, I promise :( It is just a matter of cost, unfortunately. If 2mb wasn't so close to Afrihost 4mb then I wouldn't be doing this... Your quality of service has been excellent.

If I cancel today then I will only pay for August, right? What must I PM you?

Thanks

General browsing seems to be fine.

Edit: Never mind, browsing is also quite bad at the moment. Also I'm streaming on 240p and I am getting lag

Hi dasco144

I have refreshed your account. Please also ask Telkom to recreate the port then reboot router.

How very slippery of you...
In effect it is still a 384 account for now, it just get's called 1MB. Your double-speak will not convince me but I suppose I have no choice in the matter.

At least the shaping has relaxed a bit. Still do not get full speed all the time but much better than the beginning of the year.

Hi Rambo

I can assure you that the only time MWEB Guy could be accused of being even slightly slippery is when he gets caught out coming back from a very long teabreak :)

This whole 1mb 384k thing is a difficult one to explain and unfortunately we're very dependent on Telkom's timeline for the speed upgrade rollout here which doesn't make life any easier. Try to look at it from this perspective.

On our Data Only products we have completely done away with 384k packages and now offer 1mb as the entry level product at a price which is in fact slightly less than what 384k used to be. So as a 384k data only customer you are now capable of getting 1mb speeds if you have a 1mb line. Your choice then is either to wait it out for Telkom to upgrade your line to 1mb or to pay more in the interim and upgrade to a 1mb line.

By the same token we have now done away with our 384k all inclusive bundles and upped them to 1mb capable products at the same price point, but we can't move these to current 1mb lines as from a Telkom point of view that would still be the more expensive line rental which is due to be upgraded to 2mb.

These users unfortunately will have to wait for Telkom to complete the line speed upgrades before they can take advantage of the full potential of the speed improvement they are getting.

The important point to focus on though is that no-one has had a price increase, or is paying for something in advance that we haven't delivered yet. We've simply done all of the readiness work up front so that as soon as the line speeds change you will immediately get the full benefit of the increased speed.

MWEB 1Mbps Uncapped including line rental - R339 as on website
MWEB 1Mbps Uncapped including line rental - R488 as on my latest invoice

Anyone know why the difference?

You will pay the new price come next month, afaik. The billing thing is a little wonky to explain. It will also drop because of the new 1Mb vs 384 linespeed price.

Hi Nasa

Once Telkom increases the line speed from 1Mbps to 2Mbps, customers on the ‘old’ 1Mbps data product will be capable of receiving marginally faster speeds

Someone contacted me from your office to help troubleshoot, hopefully he will call back @ 17h30 as promised, holding thumbs that I'm not going get treated like a retard

Having the exact same issues as yesterday. One of my speedtests just now to CT, gave me 399 ping, 0.35 download and 0.4 upload. The speeds fluctuates all the time, best I could so far was 84 ping and 0.9 download, the ping is just getting worse every month. Will probably need to have a look at testing an account from another ISP to pinpoint the issue.

I will update your open escalation with this information.

thanx mwebguy, courier came today and exchanged the faulty router with a brand new one, seems the new one has better firmware on it , with newer tweaks you can do and feels much faster and best of all my line actually sync at 6mb again!

cool i see also supports ip v6, where the old one did not.
