MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Mweb Guy, I have been experiencing lag issues lately in game on my one account (m926****), I have done a port recreate via telkom. But the issue seems to come and go. Can you please look into it... Its quite irritating getting kicked from a server for having a high ping!

Anyone else in the Durbs / PTN area got issues?

Afternoon IRG, we have no reported outages in your area at the moment.

Which games are you having lag issues with?

In All of them I play! BF3, MW3 & Black Ops.... ping spikes to over 900, the jumps around 200 - 700.... sometimes stabilizing, else I have to reboot my router, but sometimes that does not help immediately either... This has been for the last week or two at the most...

Trying to identify the cause is grating my arse... Telkom says all fine (as usual - but not always true ;)) Short of replacing my Filter and then my router .. dunno whats up...

My line used to fantastic, my clan even preferred it when I used to host private matches.... so something is off....

Ok, when you have the problem can you please provide me tracer results?

Also does this happen throughout the day or at specific times of the day?

No specific time, yesterday I was kicked twice for high ping... this was about 3pm on a Sunday, so not like there would have been hectic traffic... But I will try do a tracer, any specific address you want me to do it on?

bbc.co.uk and mweb.co.za; I would just like to verify if there is any possible congestion that may be playing a role.

Good Afternoon, what are your speeds like today? Did you obtain 10k/s all day yesterday? Was that with all the files you tried downloading?

Yeah for most of yesterday it was dog slow. I eventually gave up downloading anything.

This morning i queued up my downloads as per usual and they seemed to be fine. Will see what its like this evening.

Will do if it happens tonight...

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Please keep me posted.

Hi MWEB guy

Any news server downloads are crawling at the moment. I have moved from a 1mb to 2mb line and at first it was great around 200kb/s but for the last week or so I am only getting around 140kb/s and today its sitting around 40 kb/s

Can you see anything or can you reauth my acc?

Thanks :D

I'm experiencing horrible speeds as well (Sandton). I barely go over 100 kb/s on a 1mbps data account/2mbps line. It seems to have started the weekend.

EDIT: This is to the Astraweb NNTP servers in Europe.

Please keep me informed and if the problem re-occurs we will do some testing from our side.

Just an update: Just completed all 3 dragon events over the last hour or so, no crazy lag (just the usual lots of people 1 or 2 second lag which is acceptable).

So for now, problem seems to be fixed. I will monitor it with regards to the Halloween events starting tonight.

Side note: NNTP downloads are non existent right now. Throughput is 0KB/s

Apparently a few Durban peeps including myself are having the after hours problem. Try using a download manager as that helps to get some decent speeds.

Hi MWEB Guy

I'm on the Mweb 2mb Uncapped AI package and during the day all my downloads (through IDM) download at no more than 100kbs. Torrents are DEAD and do absolutely nothing. Only after about 8pm or so I get normal 2mb speeds. Would the paragraph "We will manage bandwidth usage to the best of our ability during peak periods, however, it remains a best effort service." in the FUP have anything to do with this or could there be something wrong with my account?

Here are my traces:

Hi EtTA

Please send me an actual download speed from HTTP and a speed test result.

Your tracert to MWEB is excellent, wish mine was so good :-)

Please keep in mind we have never guaranteed torrent speeds and have been transparent about it on the forums for some time now.
