MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Hi MWeb Guy! I seem to be having a problem with my line/ADSL. I've been experiencing slow International browsing and on some days my International access has been non-existent. This seems to happen like clockwork on or around the 1st of EVERY month. Telkom's been out 4 times and I've even gone as far as to have my entire house rewired, reset at the Exchange, the DSLAM checked, modem changed, PC formatted and filters swapped etc.

My 5GB Telkom Account works perfectly. I've just purchased an Axxess prepaid account and that works too. I use my MWeb account for Youtube, playing Guild Wars 2 and the occasional download of 100mb-900mb files a month via FTP.

My ping used to fluctuate between 40ms-55ms at the most. When I first joined MWeb Uncapped it was a lovely 34ms. Download speeds varied between 3.3Mb/s - 3.8Mb/s.

I will escalate this to our specialists to investigate and contact you.

Mine also stutters and lags pretty badly. International ping seems to be fluctuating greatly. The gotv in-game spec client also shows ping fluctuating between 250 and 900.

Hi, send me your MWEB details.

If I look at the traceroutes from Kr1mZoN and Handz the latency starts when it hits SeaComm cable? Are other ISPs having the same problem? Maybe there's a bottle neck somewhere which was caused by a Telkom outage between SA and International and now we have congestion? Is all International traffic not routed via Seacom now and the "old" Satellite connections are the backup if re-routing is required?

ok....either Internationl link has gone FUBAR or all MWEB's users have just jumped online...my p2p has just dropped to below 64k connections

My p2p is at about 60%of line speed at the moment. A bit slower than normal for this time of night but not bad. Much better from 11pm usually.

I am at around 24 gigs in the last 24 hours.

MWEB, this sort of service, is the best sort of advertising you could ever do.

My online games run PERFECTLY. My torrent downloads are an alarming pleasure (how could I ever need more Linux distributions than I am able to download?), and my general internet experience is what I would expect, given my line speed, locational limits, etc...

I only recommend this ISP to anyone. With the phenomenal service available on this site, and via official channels, I am never concerned about issues, knowing they will be honestly attended to.

That all said, keep your eyes on the prices, MWEB. Don't discount all the people who would otherwise pass over your services, on account of basic market expectations.

:)

+1

I've been with Mweb for a month now and it's been plain sailing since I signed up! More than happy :D

Local is lekker

International not lekker

Good Morning Cosmic_Nomad, we have no reported international outages at the moment. Your attenuation on your line does seem extremely high at the moment though: 63.5 dB. Perhaps try dropping your line speeds to 1mb and see if that makes any improvement to your experience.

Hey Mweb Guy, so when are we going to get the option of an all inclusive 1MB package ? I dont like paying for a 2MB line with a 1MB uncapped package and i dont want to move to the 2MB AIU package as its too pricey!

Telkom should be able to process the downgrade; 10210

Good Morning, I will verify this and provide you some feedback.

Edit: Monday for the latest.

I would just like to report that my Mweb account has been running in exces of 4Mbps for the last 2 weeks.

Thanks MWEB!

OK, so I phoned and downgraded line...

Local...

Please see the private message I have sent you.

EDIT: I was hopping the drop in line speed would impact on your attenuation. However it is still very high 63.5 dB. Did Telkom give you an explanation for the high attenuation?

Tech support just phoned. Lightning has hit part of the cable in Amanzimtoti and mentioned that I should be glad that I can even sync as most of the lines are dead. They are still working on how they are going to do the repair etc

Now I know why the internet has turned to molasses, and they were closing tickets.

Thanks for trying to make things smooth and creamy its much appreciated Mweb !
