Ping was great in dota 2, now from 14:45 pings have shot up to 360ms.. from 220ms

Hi KoKaRoT

Please monitor the ping result over the next few hours and see if it increase or decrease. To soon to say there is a problem on your account or line.

Please also provide me with your MWEB account details.

Would anyone know how a internet line could get bad Line Attenuation ?
I Had very good Line Attenuation for a long time, could even run 10000kbps,
But now it has dropped, and if I run at 6000kbps the lines drops quite frequent ?
I am now on 5000kbps and the line is stable.

Here is my info atm:
SNR Margin (Upstream): 13.3 db
SNR Margin (Downstream): 1.5 db
Line Attenuation (Upstream): 23.5 db
Line Attenuation (Downstream): 46.0 db

Any help would be great!

Hi Refugees

Bad line attenuation can and mostly is the result of distance from the exchange. Your line readings are good.

Dropped connections can be the result of a faulty line, router, filter or to far from the exchange. If the distance is the issue and your line for e.g. is sync on 10MB, you'll need to drop the sync speed. Is the DSL cable plugged into a filter?

There are so many reasons I can think of but provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll investigate further.

How was your connection in your other country?:D

Sure.

Almost a full month has passed and I'm still having the exact same issues. The same thing happens every single day like clockwork, my ping/speeds are perfect in the morning, but come mid/late afternoon I'm hitting 450ms to my local server (http://www.pingtest.net/result/72056883.png) with the speed slowing to a crawl - this lasts until about 2/3am and then it's fine again, until the next day. There's no logical way that the problem is on my end; it all feels extremely calculated/scheduled.

After being with mweb's uncapped since it's inception, I'm genuinely starting to feel as though it's time to move on.

FSuuuuu....ck, Mweb I cannot even watch (stream) the SA/Ireland match properly. I missed half the fsucking game.:mad::mad:

Streaming is also quite slow here at the moment. Streaming is quite choppy even at Low Quality.

Hi Code-Red

As I've mentioned in my previous post, it seems as a congestion issue if you look at the 2nd hop.

Please configure your router with the following username & password: guest@telkomadsl / password: guest then provide me with test results.

Have you perhaps tried with a different ISP account already?

Hi wily me

Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll look into your account.

Connection completely down again.

EDIT: Nevermind. Up again.

Hi Qrox

I had a look into your account and can't find any issues on it nor the ADSL line. I have refreshed both though. Where you streaming from?

I was streaming from gamebreaker.tv
Yesterday I was able to stream HD without buffering while this evening it just started to stutter more and more even after I switched to LQ.

Hopefully it will be better now.

I am a bit tentative to switch back to my MWEB account from my Openweb Gold Uncapped Trial account (which is flying). Just having a read through this thread doesn't inspire confidence in me right now.

I will however, take one for the team so to speak and run some tests to compare the 2 accounts and I shall display the results a little bit later.

Ok, keep me posted.

I tested the site and could stream fine from it after having to pause for about 7-10sec

I had to watch the second half in a noisy pub with live music. At least I could see some rugby, with the streaming all I saw was the Irish score going up but saw hardly any rugby at all. I will definitely give Vox a try soon as my gaming on PSN are more important to me.

Ok color me surprised but aside from the odd rubber banding on GW2 using MWEB, looks like everything is mostly back to normal in terms of feel. I'll post the tracerts I did anyways just purely because I did them (got lazy on the MWEB side of things as I got sidetracked actually playing GW2). Testing was done during dynamic events in the Cursed Shore area where huge groups of people get together to AoE lots of stuff, resulting in a good testing environment for lag.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Link Rate 2048 Kbps 512 Kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 dB 23.5 dB
Noise Margin 19.4 dB 14.0 dB

Included just for relevance.

Anyones connection go down around just past midnight?

Hi

For the past few days my ping and packet loss have been bad. This occurs mostly after around 8pm, but also happens sometimes during the day. Right now pingtest is showing 22% packet loss, with pings of over 500.

Any help would be appreciated.

Good morning Fancy-Pants, when you notice high pings and packets then can you provide me with a trace route result.
