MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Hi

I have just checked your account and I cannot see any authentication issues.
It would reflect on our system that the password you using is not correct.
If however your are deliberately typing the incorrect password and it still connects, I would suggest that we change the password.

If you'd like to change the password, let me know and we can have it reset for you.

I was having connection problems earlier in the week, my wife phoned support and they claimed the system showed the password used was incorrect in the router, but earlier in the day the router was working and has been working for months with the same details in the router. All seems very odd to me.

Just want to say the password I wanted on the site during sign up ended up different to the one I received via SMS by one symbol. I suggest people double check they login and password details.

I am currently running P2P on my side, its been running for the past 5 or minutes.

I will continue to run them and see what I can pick up from there.

That be strange MWEB Guy...BUT...remember...you are DIRECTLY connected to the MWEB backbone on a DIFFERENT IP range that your ADSL customers AND...not only that...your range of addresses gets preference on your network because it "should be" used for "work purposes" only.

My p2p connection has been dead since last night too. Lined up about 10GB of stuff and when I checked the usage now, as about 9AM this morning it had only downloaded 1.9GB...and this from about 8:30PM last night...

...now explain that.

I have been experiencing the same behavior om my 2 meg account. From 23:30 everything opens and runs as per normal. Can this be explained?

Same experience here.... for the past few weeks my 1mbps account has been running at half speed during the day until around 23:30 when it suddenly opens up! I want to upgrade to 2mbps but am loathe to do so until i know what's going on with Mweb's network. At the moment i can't even stream a 340p YouTube vid without buffering loads of times.

It is amazing how only some comments/questions get answered. Almost like it is being ignored.

ya,same here from 23:00 it starts to run normal

i used to play youtube 24/7 full speed
but in the day (now) nothing wont play even 240p stops tp buffer sometimes

looks like mweb does heavy sharping in the day,and even in the night only early morning its fast :/

Last Result:
Download Speed: 432 kbps (54 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 116 kbps (14.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 23 ms
Fri Nov 16 2012 14:03:21 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

i am on 1mbps with 2mbps line

after 23:00 i run at 90-130kb/s

so we can only actuly use the net at full speed just b4 bedtime
this need to be fixed

I have not had any problems directly related to Mweb uncapped. Most of the problems are with Telkom denying that there is a fault on my line for 4 weeks then finally I got a technician who came out and spent about 3 hours and finally found the fault.

Mweb rocks!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

We have a test bench in the office with a stand alone PC and a ADSL line coming from Telkom exchange like any other ADSL line.
What sort of speeds were you averaging during the night?

@racer - I will look into this from my side for you and PM you as soon as I have any update.

@ReBeL25 - We do not throttle any of our accounts, we do have dynamic shaping in place on our network though.

I've been maxing about 10-15k if I'm lucky but if you do the math... 1.9GB / 13hrs..thats like about 150MB per hour! Looking at it that way makes me even more sick!

:twisted::sick:

P2P is also very slow on my side, have two 1meg accounts at different locations and both of them is downloading at 1-5kB/s at night they go up to 45kB/s and then after 12 at full speed.

Remember: It's dynamically shaped and best effort. So nothing will be done.

That I know and understand but my arguement still remains...why is it so aggressive at night and is it only being done at the entry access points where there is extremely high traffic huge which might cause a strain on the network?

I do remote support via ADSL - using SSL via HTTP - and this also sux!

I also do some remote support after hours. Using the M-Web account is a def no-no.
I normally log in with either my AH or WA capped accounts, when I need to.

i don't see why I should incur additional costs because a "household name" ISP cannot provide the service they promise? But then again...they say its uncapped but don't guarantee speeds? It says "up to..." whatever your speed.

Man...gotta love this bogwash going about. Seems AH users are also now complaining...wonder if there's not some "price fixing" and "bandwith-fixing" going on? Maybe we should contact the Competition Commission?

This thread is not as bad is the sense of the amount of comments in comparison to the AfriHost one which has 300+ pages...
