I was wrong about the local story, It looks to be intermittent, i tracert google, i get packet loss.When i refresh this page sometimes it takes long to load. I tested my speed through mweb and it tells me 1.65mbps, so i have no idea why its acting like this then

There is no reported issues and the account and line seems fine. I re-authed the account, power down for about 30 minutes and test again.
 
Still no joy,

I tried another network cable, a different port, i checked my router stats :

Upstream 512 kbps
Downstream 2048 kbps
SNR Margin (Upstream) 12.0 db
SNR Margin (Downstream) 24.5 db
Line Attenuation (Upstream) 23.0 db
Line Attenuation (Downstream) 43.5 db

I try downloading from avast etc just to test a dl and it crawls at 6kb/s...Im out of ideas, going to try my laptop incase somethings wrong with my pc.
 
This has already been mentioned, but I must point it out again.

I am trying to download something, and it was going really slowly - Around 100 KB/s. I had torrents running, and they were coming down at about 20 KB/s.

Exited Utorrent, and my downloads immediately jumped to 500 KB/s.

So to all those people having speed issues (Youtube, etc), try without any torrents running, always.

Trying to do a speed test, it just hangs at the beginning...doesnt go any further after it tells me 'your ip is such and such'.

judging by the good few last posts on this thread.. there is seriously something wrong with mweb.

Mweb... what gives with this ****? Every singl night the last week or two at 11:50pm my line goes to ****.... i get smacked with bans on DOTA 2 because players think i rage quit.. when in actual fact my connection screws out...

Now.. this whole weekend... i've been dealing with **** like the below :

Please tell me why i consistently stay with you when there are other cheaper 4 meg options out there....

Hi Dysphoric

I have refreshed your account and ADSL port. Please allow for 30min to pass then reboot router and test.

A high 2nd hop usually points to a congested exchange but lets troubleshoot and see what comes of it.

I have refreshed your account. Please also ask Telkom to recreate the ADSL port and if there is any congestion on your exchange.
