MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

I thought there were fail-safe roll-over fail-over whatever systems in place to prevent (hour+) (long) International outages?

Hi SabreWolfy, we are running on our WACS fail over. You will notice that international is not completely dead.

[-]True -- it's taken about an hour to get slow International back, but yes, International access is back up.[/-]

Edit: Ok, most International access seems to be running at to normal speed now. Thanks.

Mweb is aware of that option, they are working on it... :D

Hi All

Everything is back to normal now :-) Thank you for your patience during this time.

Last night just before 11pm my internet went down. When I got home today it was back up again but the packet loss is worse than ever before:
23iwi1h.jpg

You keep telling me it's congestion, why then is there nothing wrong with the pings?

This is the mweb speedtest results:
Last Result:
Download Speed: 530 kbps (66.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 423 kbps (52.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

Getting this on a 1meg

Hi

I will check this out for you from my side and PM you as soon as I have any feedback.

@Soulcode - Telkom have confirmed that there is congestion at your exchange. (ref - 8BVK021012)
I believe our consultants have contacted you to advise you of the findings.

Telkom will say anything to be lazy. All the reports on this forum I have seen of congestion have one thing in common: High latency from the first hop. This is not the case here.

Good Morning All,

Downloading my favourite news paper from MySubs this morning I noticed that my speed is slow. Anyone else having issues?

Here is a speedtest I have done. I'm on a 10Mbps line.

We use a 4Mbps Mweb business account at the office, and it is excellent! Currently getting 3.41Mbps!

Morning Hunted

What is the actual speed you are getting with the download? I checked the line readings and they are fine. Can you also do a speedtest on our site and provide me the results.

Please ensure that the speed test is done without active traffic in the background.

Hi there ,

Speedtest on your website is much better. Started off at 800+kB/s then went down into the 600s kB/s and stayed there. Normally the line operates in the 900+ kB/s range though.

The download I did this morning only ran @ +-130kB/s I think. Normally get 1030kB/s on that PDF download.

I'll test some more on other stuff and see what I get.

thnx

Last Result:
Download Speed: 6621 kbps (827.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 854 kbps (106.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

Good Day HummerCellC, I cannot replicate your results at our test bench and the graphing looks normal for international traffic.

Please reboot your router for 5min and let me know if it helps. I would like to see if your experience is the same when connecting the another IP.

International just came back about 10 mins ago.... Thanks Mweb guy all sorted.

Hi Mweb Guy,

Used to get speeds of 100 - 120 on a 1mb line when torrenting until last week. That speed has now dropped to around 30 for torrents but browsing and youtube is not affected. When calling your call center last night, I was told that there is shaping taking place on the torrents during daytime hours and that normal browsing is not affected. The downloads at 9pm last night went to 2kbps and this was not daytime hours. It's currently hovering around 30. This is less than the old 384 line. When speaking to a friend also an MWEB customer, he is getting 100kbps download speeds.

Is there anything that can be done from your end? I've restarted router and PC but no change.

Cheers

Hi Bighit

Torrent speeds are not guaranteed on our network and will fluctuate from time to time, especially on shaped accounts.
It receives the lowest priority and as it is a contended service, we cannot guarantee that it will always be perfect.

Drop me a PM with your account info and I will look into the account for you to see if there's anything I can do.
