I have tested your line and the readings are good and your line is syncing at 4Mb.

This trace route shows that it is something closer to home that is causing this.

As Mwebguy said. It looks like you are dealing with a congested exchange as hop 2 is way to high which is the exchange. Your only option is to bug Telkom about it.

I'm experiencing very high latency on my 1Mbps uncapped Mweb connection. This has been an issue to some extent for the past week, more or less. I have contacted Telkom to recreate my port, and the problem is present on both my Mweb account as well as the Telkom guest account.

I checked my ping to www.mweb.co.za early this morning, and it was perfectly normal, which leads me to believe I'm connected to a congested exchange in the Durbanville/Bellville area.

Hi SilentCynic

If you say that the problem persists after taking MWEB out of the equation by using the Telkom guest account then you looking at a possible line issue.

Send me your MWEB account details and I'll do some checks.

Thanks for the details.

I have refreshed your MWEB account.

I would advise making contact with Telkom and providing them with your tracert results. Try also rebooting the router.

Thank you for the quick attempt, although sadly it hasn't changed much. I have attempted rebooting my router several times to no avail.

Ironically, Telkom's fault-reporting function on their website isn't working. Do you perhaps have any other email address I could make use of?

Hi SilentCynic

Telkoms number is 10210. The thing is congestion can only be fixed at the exchange or they'll have to move you to a different 1.

Thursday one of your technical guys called me and my ports were reset, directly after that I started experiencing constant disconnections, today it was the first time without a dc, but my latency in games was 300+ locally the whole day.
My internet is going from bad to worse, I don't know what to do anymore.

Here is a pingtest to Cape Town on the http://capetown.spdtst.saix.net/ site, this is like 2min ago.
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1001 kbps (125.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 366 kbps (45.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 417 ms
1/13/2013 10:16:15 PM

And this is a 6mb account.

Good Morning KoPsKooT, are you still having a problem with latencies?

Please also provide me your MWEB account details via private message.

@MWebGuy

Just signed up for an uncapped trial.

One question, are the trial accounts effectively an exact copy of standard uncapped accounts that just last 7 days? I.E., uncapped trials are not specially prioritised or anything, leading to a better first impression? I don't want to be let down in the future…

Thanks
