MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Let me get this straight, mweb is launching new packages that are throttled and shaped, does this mean that the current packages are going to become unshaped and not throttled? If not, how do these new packages keep a current customer from going to another isp where he/she can get a better or cheaper deal than mweb for less money and not be throttled and shaped?

Don't get me wrong, the new 1mbps and 2mbps packages look great in terms of the speed you get out of it. This is more concerning the 4mbps and up packages, since you guys didn't bother reducing the current packages' price, but rather shape and throttle the new package so it can be like the current 2mbps speeds. I am baffled how this logic is working, so please explain.
Mweb is still cheaper and worthwhile on 1 Mbps Uncapped Shaped
Only 2/4 New Packages 2 & 4 Mbps ... Shaped & Throttled
Up to 2Mbps Uncapped ADSL (throttled) R239 p/m R449 p/m
Up to 4Mbps Uncapped ADSL (throttled) R359 p/m R689 p/m
Hershaw explained that they will maintain a fair service for all their subscribers by implementing throttling on high usage users where applicable (throttled speeds: 2Mbps, 192Kbps; 4Mbps – 256Kbps.”

Are the Unshaped Packages still available ?

Good Afternoon

The new product release is a direct comparable with Telkom product.

Most of the ISP's who offer cheaper products, offer throttled products and it would therefore not be fare to compare a "premium" shaped product with a throttled product.

The "premium" shaped and unshaped packages will not be affected by the new release. We will continue to offer these products alongside the new throttled product offerings.

Our clients now have the choice of either moving to the cheaper throttled products or staying on the premium shape or unshaped products.

@Mweb guy - I have sent you a PM.

I have subscribed for a 1Mb data-only account @R199 pm from Mweb.

Did Mr Murphy caused a slip-up so that the amount is now R353.06? :erm:

Can we sort this problem out, and find out what happened?

Thanks!

Look's like Pro Rata Billing..

Then surely they must be more specific on their tax invoices... there is nothing that says pro-rata billing...

Afrihost did exactly that, they specified what was pro-rata billing and what wasn't.

Bleh. Budget's shot :( I budgeted on R199, not R350 something :(

Belay that :o

I have found this in my emails (during the initial agreement with the Mweb consultant) :

The first payment will be at the end of January which will be a pro-rata and a month in advance payment.

So I was wrong :o

Thanks for the assistance though :) Will make a plan with the rest of the payments... :erm: Gonna be a real interesting month :D

Have the same problem now. Signed up beginning November with 2 months free. Looks like I wasnt charged at the beginning of January and now have to pay double (Jan and Feb). Any reasoning behind this?

EDIT** Ok well the post above explains a few things. Was busy doing my post.

Hi MWEB Guy,

I called the sales team to enquire and the guy I spoke to stated that these new accounts are not targetted at ppl that download as the speed is heavily throttled during the day and if you download a lot then this isnt recommended for such users. I was a little shocked to hear that should you download in excess of 150GB's every month for 3 months that I would receive an abuse email. I say shocked because the guy said I had download 170Gb already this month. What happened to uncapped meaning, no cap? I agree that other ISP's are offering a throttled service when it comes to these uncapped deals but there are those that dont ie. Openweb and TI (as from 1 Feb).
MWEB's policy of not throttling a users connection speed, but rather shaping protocols, was the main reason I joined MWEB and not Afr**** or Axx****, these new acconts are gonna fall down the same path as the ones offered by the 2 othe ISP's I just mentioned.
My service with MWEB has been nothing short of awesome, I'm just disappointed we not seeing the 2MB offered on a level thats on par with some of your other ISP's.

Come on MWEB Guy make a plan........

Good Day,

We have not received any particulars on the throttled products as yet, what the throttling thresholds will be and so forth.

I am also not sure where the sales agent received specific amounts that are pegged to abuse of accounts.

We will still continue to offer our premium shaped products (not throttled), as we always have. The new products will be offered alongside the premium products and not in place of.

I'm getting 'page not found' errors on the mweb website when trying to access the 'my account' area, and runtime error when trying to access the email. What's up with that?

Good Day OrbitalDawn, I am able to access the MWEB website and message centre at the moment.

Are you still having trouble with this? Please also provide me your MWEB account details via private message.

Has anyone noticed higher international latency +-30ms since the new MWEB ADSL product announcement?

I sent my cancelltion form in yesterday afternoon, and so far only received an automated reply. If it does not get processed before month end, will you take the day I sent the form in as the cancellation date or the date it was processed? If I have to effectively give 2 calendar months notice I am understandably gonna get angry =/

Hi Soulcode

I am sorry to hear that you will be cancelling, let me know if there is anything I can do to make you reconsider.

We will take it from the date that you have sent the cancellation form to us.

So if we only get to your mail on say the 3rd or 4th February, we will take February as your one month calendar notice.

Not so popular anymore are you, MWEBghey. Send me the tracert isn't gonna cut it anymore. BYE

Still with MWEB and still rocking. Hope that the network will be even better with people migrating back to Telkom.

I still love you MWEB
