MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Hi Xennox

I'm not aware of any changes but I will follow up with our gaming admins.
I will let you know what feedback they provide me.

Before I do that, could you please also PM me on which servers you play.

EVE Online only uses one server for actual playing and that is their Tranquality server, their other servers are just their test servers.

My account was eventually sorted out to the 2mbs throttled package and it seems mweb have already started to throttle me after downloading about 30gig of torrents. when i am logged into my mweb account a get a total torrent download of about 20kB/s but if i log into a WA trial account the same torrents download at almost full line speed ~190kB/s. I have tried this a number of times with the same result.

Is it possible that the throttle threshold could be so low? if so, there is no way people will use this product when other ISPs are offer an unthrottled service at almost the same price....

Hi

Our throttled products are not intended for bulk downloads, more so for torrents.
It is a basic account which is to be used for emailing, browsing, online banking or sending small to medium attachments.

There are no set numbers as to how much you can download. Throttling limits will be applied based on your average usage for the previous 30days.

LOL so your 2mb/s uncapped is actually a ~30gb capped service with almost dial up speeds once you hit your cap. good luck trying to sell crap like this to anyone with more than half a brain.

Wish mweb dropped there current 2mb pricing and didnt release that throttled uncapped :(

599pm for 2mb is a bit much compared to all other isps -_-

Right.

MWEB and billing.

I don't know what's going on, and a conversation with a consultant left me more confused than ever.

Between Capitec's online banking, my apparent incredible daftness with money, and MWEB's pay in advance, month's notice, etc, etc, I apparently owe them 1.6K.

I know this is not the place for billing ****, but I'm at the end of my tether.

Just putting this out there, and I hope I can find a resolution for this soon, somehow.

Hi copacetic

It will be best to discuss these type of queries in private and therefore have sent you a detailed reply via PM.

Just upgraded to 2MB and already throttled, all in 1 hour!!!

Hi I just upgraded to the 2mb throttled package, and it would appear that I am already being throttled? I upgraded literally 1 hour ago got full line speed for half hour and now hangs round the 192kb speed as indicated by sales guy.
How can I be throttled already?

How do I know if I am being throttled and this is not some other issue. Do I receive an email notification that I am being throttled?

Hi Banned!

Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll look into it ASAP and provide feedback once done.

Mu ha ha ha bunch of clowns. I hear management hasn't even provided tech support with the scales that that use to classify heavy usage. Also apparently the system can't deal with exiting customer upgrades as it scans your previous usage. Double standards for sure because if I was a new customer this would not be happening. I think this is grounds for voiding my upgrade, and I will be looking into it right now. My current usage for this month is 79GB, so this package is absolute useless, is a complete fabrication and an extortion attempt to force you into the overpriced premium package. You would get more usage out of a 1MB package, and save bucks to boot (incl, telkom bill)... Stick with 1MB!!!

Banned! I managed to get the figures for the shaping. The threshold is supposed to be 6 gig per day on a 1mb line, everyday, for 30 consecutive days i.e. if you download more than 180gb per month, on a 1mb line, you will get throttled. It scales with your line speed. You shouldn't be getting throttled at all? Somethings fishy.

Yip ICT might as well be I&J!

Hi Banned!

I had a further look into your account and found that it has been rectified. Is this correct?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Fixed it by chucking some moola at it, but hey what you gonna do when they won't unbundle the local loop, communists!

What a load of bull! if this is all i wanted to do i would get a 1mbs 5gig capped account for a fraction of what im paying now. If you sell someone an uncapped service with an above average speed line its obvious that they will tend to download things with it.
I now have to wait half a month at crawl speeds before i can give notice to cancel this ridiculous product.....

Whats going on with Mweb uncapped since last night, download speed extremely slow. Speedtest.net tells me my connection is 512kbps. Thats when using the app from my phone, cant even open the website from my PC. Suppose to be 1Mb. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?
