I have received and replied to your PM

According to Mweb I have downloaded too much (32.55Gb for the month exactly) on a 2mbps uncapped line.

Received their threatening AUP letter and I'm being throttled. Currently getting anything between 10kpbs and MAX 30kbps. Will attach speed test results when I get home this afternoon.

Needless to say, I have cancelled this account and will be moving to a new ISP.

Why is your screenshot cut off there? Please include what's below it, as what you've shown is not a determiner in being throttled or not.

Thanks, I have sent you a pm. I understand the whole AUP thing but I really don't feel that I'm abusing my uncapped account.

Perhaps you're on the Standard uncapped?

The below would suggest it, 2Mbps throttled at ±70GB.

Otherwise, if you're on Premium, I'm sure MWEB Guy will sort it out for you.

Okay, that makes sense. I'm on the standard package. Wasn't aware of the 70Gb "cap" - if I can call it that.

I'd suggest looking at upgrading to 4Mbps Standard then. Otherwise, if you're intent on cancelling, you could look at a high-cap account from another ISP. For example, Afrihost has 50+50GB for R199.

Thank you for the help. I will proceed with my cancellation. I feel that with Telkom they are a lot more lenient with regards to throttling your account (previous experience). I will however be going for their 4mb "Faster" package.

MWEB Guy can you please tell me the difference between the standard and premium uncapped besides the usage threshold.

Hi Soul Assassin

The main difference is the thresholds of the packages. The Premium packages have a higher threshold.

Standard Package is more for everyday use, browsing, emails, the odd social media.
Premium Package is more for gaming, streaming, downloads, etc.

The reason I'm asking is I'm currently on the premium 4Mbps account with a 10Mbps line and I'm considering moving to the standard 10Mbps account, my highest total used over the last 12 month's was 213,899MB, so I don't need the 400GB threshold, the 250GB that the standard account offers is perfect for me.

I just don't want to move to the 10Mbps standard and find everything on the 4Mbps premium ran faster.

Thank you for the great service last night.

Now I just have a concern regarding my current usage, shouldn't some of the usage over the past 30 days expire to realistically fit with the new accounts threshold limit?

No non of the usage falls away as this is your historical data, even though you are on a different package.

The reason for this, is that if it was to fall away then this could be used to bypass out throtlling.
