Hi chris_meier

Please send me your MWEB account details and I'll have it look into and have the relevant team make contact with you on Monday.

The simple fact is that this matter could, and should, have been resolved today, if only the staff took accountability and ownership of what they were doing. Escalating to have a matter resolved 3 days from now serves absolutely no purpose.

Good point, had the same issues last weekend as tonight. Had to move over to the backup Afrihost account...

Great, so it's not just me!? Also not getting any joy on my line - Durbanville. I'm cancelling on Monday, had enough. Just a bloody schlep to transfer line back to Telkom but in the long run it will save me from going crazy!!

Clearly there is an issue...I was playing dayz then suddenly ALL the players on mweb get kicked for high pings...

Hi Handz

Is it only with Games that your connection is problematic?

I have refreshed account & Port.

My maths may be failing me but I count 5 "reports" on here... ;)

What would it help to phone? Sorry sir, no issues this side, please reset and reconfigure your router because it MUST be that!

WebAfrica and Telkom accounts working 100%.

Mweb has never recovered from the big seacom outage a few months back. I was with mweb for years and the performance was almost always great but since then it's been a lot poorer. This past week has been painful, skyping with my gf overseas is dismal, right now torrents are downloading at 10 kb/s, youtube has been a struggle all week.

I hate what mweb are doing with the notices and throttling, but I was hopeful that at least the performance would get back to where it was. Nope.

Going overseas in October and if things aren't better by the time I'm back I'm done.

I am unable to connect to the Usenet server (news.mweb.co.za) using GrabIt.

Is something wrong with it?

Nevermind - using Google DNS was messing things about.

Take it from me, if that is the case that other ISP's perform normally when the current provider doesn't is a clear sign to move on. The sole responsiblity of an ISP is to provide a service at the highest level, it isn't rocket science, and in my experience since I've been on uncapped since 2010, with numerous ISP's, I've learnt not to hang around when things degrade, it just isn't worth it and is a waste of time. They will try and lead you by the nose for as long as possible until you decide for yourself to move on. Trust me, it is much cheaper and easier for an ISP to string you along via a call centre agent than to upgrade their IPC bandwidth which to the more experienced, is plain as day as to what the problem is.

TOP TIP TO AVOID 30 DAY CALENDAR MONTH NOTICE ON UNCAPPED:

Ask them to change your uncapped account to a 1GB capped before the end of the month (not too close to end of the month, call it the 20th of the month to play it safe), so that at month end you will only pay for a 1GB account and not another month of uncapped hell, then cancel.

Word of warning:

Beware of the OOB shark as one guy didn't change over to his new provider and let his "new" downgraded 1GB account download 7GB overnight which they ended up rushing him for something like R800!

PM me if you are interested in some recommendations on alternate ISP's. Compared to Mweb, the grass is truly greener on the other side :)
