MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Mweb I am currently streaming Apple TV and noticed that my streaming is taking longer that it should for a 4 mb line. Speed is constant 3 mb but yet I getting very choppy playback. Is this on your side. This happens especially at night. When I need to use it the most. I know downloads are give low priority but what about streaming.

Morning Phionix, streaming is prioritised on our network.

Please test the protocol through the course of today and let me know how it performs.

Sorry mite just be terminology but how do I check protocol. Is that just a speed test?

We have a 4mb Mweb uncapped adsl line. These past 2 weeks I am having trouble downloading anything from the Apple online stores (Mac App Store, iOS App Store and iTunes Store) updates and downloads take forever. It takes 30-50 minutes to download a 30mb app update.

Tried an update on a friends 2mb Telkom uncapped account and it dowloads way faster than the 4mb Mweb line.
Anyone experiencing the same problems?

Sorry about the jargon there Phionix :)

I meant to say test the streaming protocol (Apple TV) through the course of today and let me know how it performs ;)

Perhaps also inbox me your MWEB account details

Same here. Apple downloads are non-existent on MWEB but run normally on another ISP.

I'm still in the process of sorting this out with MWEB. It's not always, but often enough for it to be a problem.

MWEB Guy, please advise ASAP.

Afternoon Gents, can I enable monitoring on your accounts to try and ascertain how the Apple traffic is graphing on our side?

Please also provide me examples or screenshots of speeds obtained using apple traffic with your MWEB account and alternate account if possible.

Will test some more during the next few weeks to try and resolve my gaming issues. Yesterday afternoon at around 17:15 I tried to connect to my gaming server using @mweb.co.za.

No luck. Switched to trial account from another ISP, connected to game in +.- 1 minute. Thought that might be as good as a port reset, changed back to @mweb.co.za, no game connection.

Only at around 21:30 +/- could I connect to my gaming server using MWEB. Can connect with trial account at will. That , to me, points to MWEB shaping the cr@p out of my capped account.

Speed test on trial account and MWEB are identical.

Will repeat this process and log times more accurately to see if we cant get to the crux of the matter.

Afternoon Drifter, which game are you playing?

Is it PC or console gaming?

Which servers are you playing on?

Please provide some more information, in order for us to assist with your troubleshooting.

Hi Mweb Guy

I am actually experiencing issues just connection to my World of Warcraft account. Over the last 2 days(school holidays coincidence?) I would say. I can download patches/content and connect to other blizzard games(hearthstone) but for some reason I can't connect to my normal WoW account. This resolves itself it seems after a certain time(around 21:30 last night as an example) but I am getting tired trying to connect to my account over and over again till it succeeds. Is there an issue you are working on or is this just a new problem?

Afternoon Hellhound, when testing WoW is there any other traffic running on your network?

Can you perhaps describe what happens when you try and connect to your WoW account?

Sure there is always other traffic as we use it to keep the kids busy during the week but this normally doesn't effect our login. As I stated this started happening recently. Basically open up the WoW client. Type in credentials. It actually sits on "Connecting" for a long time then throws a very quick error and says "disconnected from server". The odd thing is the packet that seems to check if your credentials are correct goes through quickly(i.e. I get a "incorrect username" dialog almost instantly if I did type it in wrong) It is the actual logging into the WoW realm that seems to time out I believe.

The MWEB Specialists have been trying for months, it got ok for quite a while, but these last 3 weeks or so it has been very bad. The game is called Warcomander and hosted by www.kixeye.com. PC based browser embedded game. You can either connect via Facebook portal or connect directly on Kixeye's home page.

Ther servers are in the US, but I think our traffic gets routed via the UK.
