Why 1Mbps? Isn't that going to give you a max of between 240p and 360p?

p2p usually only opens up after 00h00, are you including after 00h00 in your query?

It's hard to say if it's a Telkom line issue, or an account speed issue. I doubt the account isn't performing correctly.

1Mbps because theres no point asking mweb to change it to 2mbps since I never reached 100kbps download speed.
I'm not including p2p. I'm saying that any file I download never downloads at a rate higher than 50kbps. Even a pdf from university servers.
I want to know whether my line is faulty or mweb is throttling everything to 50kbps.

The only explanation that you could never achieve more than 1Mbps download speeds (±100Kbps), is because you're very far from the Telkom exchange. Do you know where it is? Is this the case?

Or because someone on your local network was limiting you to that speed, etc.

I take it you are aware that 2Mbps is the slowest advertised ADSL speed by Telkom, not 1Mbps any longer.

This sounds like a line or equipment related issue to me.

You asking for your account to be put into an always throttled state. This is within your control.

We can't set an account to be permanently throttled.

Oh well, then I'll just have to make sure I always download enough stuff to keep my account throttled.

It's just an account setting.

Putting it on normal access, normally improves streaming and legitimate downloads.

And by whom, the customer's choice or MWEB's or both?

Protected access is the default setting on all ADSL accounts.

I speak under correct, but I think it can be adjusted via My account as well. (option used to be there)

Online, filled in the form then got the Sms with details, trying to login in now but not connecting.


Edit: got it working , remove all other ISp details , reset.

I am having problems with downloading and streaming. I am on an mweb uncapped 2mbps account and I am not throttled. I did a speed test and the reports are fine with an average of 1.7 mbps webpages load fine but when I try and watch a youtube video it buffers frequently on 480p quality which should play perfectly fine on the speed I have. Also downloading averages like 0.8 to 0.9 mbps which is more like a 1mbps line

I suggest PMing MWEB Guy for an account reauth, and then powering off your modem for 15 minutes.
