MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Do you mainly use facebook and emails only, and don't do any gaming or downloads? If so the answer is easy, mweb is good for you. If you do a lot of downloads and heavy gaming, go somewhere else. That is my experience

Morning DERoestorf, we offer different packages which are suited for different types of users.

Its important that the end user selects the package suited to their needs.

4mb/s premium uncapped it not suited for my needs, as a gamer.

The 4Mbps premium package has a threshold of 400GB's and most gaming requirements are within the outputs of our 4Mbps premium package.

You also do have the option to select a higher speed package.

Everyone who games and downloads and does other things unrelated to Facebook and emails on MWEB is laughing at you.

Indeed. My parents use around 5-8gb a day streaming usually and i can still get away with occasional downloads on top of that.

We use your 4mbps premium package at work, with my downloading there during the day and night and workers abusing the internet a bit we rarely see 180GB. Wish I knew what these other guys downloaded that would exceed 400GB a month. Probably 1080P content, I am used to 100MB 40 minute episodes. 360P to 480P I guess. Like this for example pared with IDM, MAGIC. :)

problem isn't speed, problem is quality. The quality is ****, latency spikes all over the place, random speed drops making it impossible to game online, and then there is random drops. All which happens only when using MWEB with my equipment.

PS. you guys have done your investigations. But the moment you monitor my line, the problems stop. I am tired of investigations. I am just waiting for Fibre, to leave MWEB for good. Tired of the bad quality network, that does not work for gaming at all.

The quality is the best there is. You clearly have other issues.

Morning new_in_za2, we are always here to assist.

Is there anything I can do for you?

As per my previous post, my ADSL line has been intentionally degraded. Your reply was that I should be happy that my ADSL line has been intentionally degraded. When I tried to point out that this was not a satisfactory response, you went silent. If you're now willing to help, then that's great. Please return my ADSL line to its original settings (ie, fast path).

Not sure what games you've been playing, but i'v never had latency spikes and even if the network is being shaped i can still play online perfectly. Sounds like an underlying adsl issue.

OK, I see that you've decided to go silent again, and thus stand by your comment that I should be happy to have my ADSL line intentionally degraded. Time to look for a new ISP then.

Hi new_in_za2

Sorry you feel that way but we did not intentionally degrade your service. Please be advised that Telkom is implementing changes to the ADSL infrastructure in South Africa, which all ISP's plug into. We do not have an, on or off, switch for this change.

If you do decide to come back to MWEB please feel free to PM me & I'll have your account re-activated.

It's been good for a while but dreadful the past day or two.

Adsl says up, pppoe stays green but we go nowhere.

Just happened again while typing this.

Looks like a line/equipment fault to me.

How is that going to help?

Well, as several people mentioned in the thread I linked, they were able to get their ADSL line restored by contacting the company they're buying the ADSL line service from. However, Mweb thinks it's not their job to fix their service. Thus, if I cancel with Mweb and move my line back to Telkom, I can contact Telkom instead of Mweb and Telkom will then fix the line that Mweb refuses to fix.
