I am currently installing surveillance cameras (Provision ISR system) at my place with a recording device which is connected to my router (I have an mweb Fon router). One of the features allows me to view the footage via the internet. To get this to work, I needed to register a domain with them which will allow me to connect to my cameras. I did this and there backend supports dynamic IP's (hence my previous question)

When I try connect at work, I am unable to connect, it just times outs. Does my mweb package allow me to do this?

Yes, you can do so with your MWEB account.

Hi Mweb Guy, you guys manage my line. I have an open ticket for support regarding a repeat fault that Telkom refuse to resolve. The last few calls to tech support to get this escalated, the "Telkom interface was down:, or words to that effect. I have been battling since middle Jan with the same problem, probably logged 9 or so faults, no resolution.

I was under the impression that MWEB will deal on my behalf with telkom issues seeing that I pay you the rental fee for my ADSL?

Yes that is correct; we speak to Telkom on your behalf if line if with us.

The consultant you spoke with earlier on managed to update the Telkom ref with your latest experience.
 
Hi Mweb Guy - been getting sluggish speeds for the last 3 days. There seems to be burst of speed then slow to nothing, and the cycle repeats. YouTube also very slow. Local sites load quickly. speed test reveal everything as being normal, but speeds on websites are sporadic. modem has been reset etc.
 
anyone getting issues with path of exile timing out when changing instances ? , posted a complaint a week ago on there " gaming admin forums " and none as even given a rats ass to assist me with the issue, and I'm not the only one, my other buddy's has to use alternative connections just to play the game, I bought a VPN service just to play a game ontop of that I'm running mweb premium 10mb uncapped and I have to run additional cost just to play a freaking online game, due to bad service from mweb....

I've also been getting problems with youtube at random times, mostly at night however. I have also been experiencing disconnection with two games: Hearthstone and Elite dangerous - at the same time that youtube gives sluggish streaming. Everything else is fine however and given that other users here are also experiencing problems with youtube I doubt the problem is my side? Especially since everything else works fine.

You tested with others games?

I have refreshed your account. I take it you have asked Telkom to recreate the port?
 
Hey there! I'm also having problems with Youtube and International access in general. Sites load relatively fast however towards the evening and midnight I've noticed that Youtube videos suddenly need to be buffered and take 15+ minutes to load. Steam disconnects and games like Trove, Minecraft and Guild Wars 2 experience high pings or DC. This has been happening since my last message to you (about 2-3 weeks ago).

2. Only other game I play online is League of legends and that works fine

3. I'll have to get to asking them sometime soon
 
I'v also noticed this slow youtube speed in the evening. Its really aggravating. The one night it went as low as 49kbps.
 
Yep, its happening right now too for me but sometimes it does go normally, but mostly at night and now its just too slow to use. I asked Telkom for a port reset on the forums cause I am not a social person :D, so I'll have to wait a bit to see if that works. I tried using a different account too but same issues, so I am leaning towards it being a Telkom problem or perhaps just a port problem as Mweb suggested?

There is no other problem though, all other websites load fine, download speeds still go to max. Hearthstone for me has a bit of a problem but not too bad, but Elite dangerous is unplayable when this problem occurs. League still works fine and so does anything else, so I am a bit baffled by this issue.

The slow youtube speed only seems to happen on chrome. When i switch to firefox it runs fine.

also thought wth has been going on with YT and just now ran it in IE, but it ran perfectly fine.

could view a 720p without as much as a hick-up.
 
The difference is that the mime type is video/webm in Chrome but video/mp4 in Firefox and IE. Looks like traffic shaping fail by MWEB.
 
Full speed in Chrome when going through a VPN. Can you fix your traffic shaping rules or must I get a different ISP?

Hi The Secret Turnip, do you notice any difference in the quality between the two types of video? Since playback works in alternate browsers, this implies that the issue relates to Google Chrome specifically. Are you able to alter the playback type in Chrome?

Please also PM me your MWEB account info so that I can further investigate.
 
I also noticed this issue with Youtube over Chrome, it was driving me nuts.

I thought it was related to my adblockers, but ended up discovering it was the browser. IE/Firefox/Edge work perfectly.
