If I wanted to move my line to Mweb what would the process be? Currently paying R165 for the line rental with telkom for a 2mb line but I'm looking to possibly upgrade to the 4mb line (Telkom site says its R299 for 4mb, the Mweb option says R230 so I presume its cheaper?)

Just wondering if I did it:

-How long would it take
-Do I phone need to phone both Telkom and Mweb to do it
-Would the internet be disrupted at all at any point?

Good Afternoon, our 4Mbps standard data only product cost is R230.00 (this excludes the ADSL line).

Inclusive of the line the cost is R429.00.

This excludes the cost of the land line telephone.

One other question: If I move my line from Telkom to Mweb, is there any internet downtime in that process?

There would be a bit of downtime once the line is transferred to the holding pool.
If you would like I can arrange for a consultant to call you to explain the process and advise on how to get the ball rolling.

So I can upgrade for free tomorrow, from 4mb too 8mb :D I think my router needs an upgrade as well. It's the old Billion W40 or something that came out when got 1st MWEB contract many moons ago.

Now MWEB have offered me a Technicolour TG589V (I never heard of this brand in my life)

I'm a bit skeptical with the type of routers though, I can get it for R499 as I am an existing customer. Can anyone tell me how these routers are or should I fork out a couple 100 more for something decent?
 
Hey everyone crazy question here:

Does anyone know which ISP in South Africa uses WASACE South/Africa/America in their international routing?

Mweb seems to just go straight to the paris internation change-over before even attempting to reach Rio/Brazil. Does anyone know of an ISP that uses these atlantic cables for lower latency?
 
for crying out loud!!! do this maintenance checks and stuff do 6:00AM in the morning when no one cares if the line disconnect during online gaming or work even...

just be reasonable about it!!!
 
Jesus, can you guys take a look at your dota servers? The whole team in dota lagging like crazy.

Good Morning, did the latency issue resolve itself?

Did it continue through the course of the evening?

Well you cant pick and choose your server in dota it uses matchmaking.

So when one guy had enough and bailed we all did. Easy loss.

When do you experience this lag? Also had massive packet loss last night. Well Actually was a few nights (not every night) i have a ping of about 100ms. Now they told me that they will send my account to abuse department to test as if it's my fault that it's high. Pathetic from MWEB to blame us consumers. If i go straight to Telkom test account my ping is just fine but switching back to mweb account my ping is back to 100+ms then back to Telkom and low as 27ms. this must be MWEB issue cause if it was my line then Telkom test account will also give me 100+ms. Also when on Telkom guest account my packet loss is non existent.

Please let me know and I will have our gaming team verify if they have picked up anything on their side.

Yes, it now happens in counter strike as well, any mweb hosted server is affected.

Can you please provide me a date and time for when you encountered the issue and I will escalate to our gaming team to verify if they have picked up anything.

Good MOrning, the upgrades have commenced and we have finished majority of our client based.

We have had some delays and our management team have advised that the upgrades should now be completed by the 5th.

Please bear with us during this time.
